Trump Administration* - Fired / Quit

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Mulvaney out, Meadows in.

Hopefully will be Meadows last and a very short term job in Washington.
He appointed him to the position of special envoy to Northern Ireland. Booted him and humiliated him.
Would be a fine posting for many folks, but to go from WH CoS to that . . .

He must have been bribed or blackmailed to accept it.

It's probably just a scam to make money on. Mick will soon find that he has no official residence there and will be forced to stay at the trump golf course hotel in Ireland, eat all meals there, and commute daily to his workplace in a car rented by the day from trump hotel. The daily cost of this will be six thousand dollars, the media will criticize the whole deal, and trump will call it a "hoax" and "witch hunt" and pretend it just isn't happening. The cult will gush in awe.

10.5 months should be about right. We don't want him back sooner than that.

As I post this, trump has retweeted congratulations to Meadows from Jim Jordan   which I think is funny as hell since Jim is about to be wrestled way down in stature pretty soon because of his "do nothing coach" act back at OSU

I stand amazed at the sheer hubris of these guys that can watch Trump screw over every single person who has worked for or been close to him and somehow find it reasonable to say "I'll go to work for him - it won't happen to me."

The closer they get to being Stephen Miller, the higher their odds of longevity are :D . Meadows MIGHT make it until 1/20/21.

Good point, but nobody has been involved with Trump and not been significantly damaged in some way, even if they're not fired. Wonder what Meadows wants to do next, wearing the stank of Trump. I guess he can write a book, make appearances/speeches to the remaining right-wing droolers, sell prayer-cures for kids with terminal illnesses...

Unless one has a particular interest in the peaceful resolution of "The Troubles" I would imagine that a posting as envoy to Northern Ireland is a bit of a diplomatic dead end. For one thing, Ulster is not even a country in its own right; it's long been a territory contested by the British government and by discontented (largely Catholic) Northern Irishmen who want a union with the rest of Ireland. Mulvaney's qualifications for this diplomatic assignment appears mainly to revolve around his Irish Catholic ancestry.
That, plus having very slightly more substance than an empty chair. We did not have a Special Envoy for Northern Ireland from 2011 to 2014 and IMPOSPOTUS has never had one until now.

Mulvaney is even more humiliated than he appeared at first glance. It's 45SHOLE's way of making us pay for an NDA.

Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I hope that Meadows is too right-wing to win a statewide election here. He's 60, maybe he figures on 1 year or 5 with 45SHOLE, a few years of lobbying/consulting as an outrageously lucrative reward for his service to right-wing corporatism, and retirement.

As of today we are without a US Rep. The sun is shining more brightly, the birds are singing more heartily, even neglected pets have full bellies, and orphans and cancer patients are more optimistic.

The local towns should make it a holiday; Meadows Free Day. I was wondering the other day what folks like John Boner and Paul Ryan think about what's going on in the country and with the GOP specifically. Boner is a cricket if he's still alive, probably chain smoking in the garage with a blanket over his head. I've read that Ryan took a gig at Fake News in some capacity but haven't seen him or heard much from him. I guess they're both speechless.

Predictable, surprised that he waited so long:
Trump fires intelligence community watchdog who defied him on whistleblower complaint

President Donald Trump has fired the intelligence community’s chief watchdog, Michael Atkinson, who was the first to sound the alarm to Congress last September about an “urgent” complaint he received from an intelligence official involving Trump’s communications with Ukraine’s president.

Atkinson's decision set in motion the congressional probe that culminated in Trump's impeachment and ultimate acquittal in a bruising political and legal drama that consumed Washington for months.

Trump formally notified the Senate and House Intelligence Committees of his intention to fire Atkinson, to take effect 30 days from Friday, according to two congressional officials and a copy of the letter obtained by POLITICO dated April 3.

“This is to advise that I am exercising my power as president to remove from office the inspector general of the intelligence community, effective 30 days from today,” the president wrote....
