Unless one has a particular interest in the peaceful resolution of "The Troubles" I would imagine that a posting as envoy to Northern Ireland is a bit of a diplomatic dead end. For one thing, Ulster is not even a country in its own right; it's long been a territory contested by the British government and by discontented (largely Catholic) Northern Irishmen who want a union with the rest of Ireland. Mulvaney's qualifications for this diplomatic assignment appears mainly to revolve around his Irish Catholic ancestry.

That, plus having very slightly more substance than an empty chair. We did not have a Special Envoy for Northern Ireland from 2011 to 2014 and IMPOSPOTUS has never had one until now.

Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I hope that Meadows is too right-wing to win a statewide election here. He's 60, maybe he figures on 1 year or 5 with 45SHOLE, a few years of lobbying/consulting as an outrageously lucrative reward for his service to right-wing corporatism, and retirement.

As of today we are without a US Rep. The sun is shining more brightly, the birds are singing more heartily, even neglected pets have full bellies, and orphans and cancer patients are more optimistic.

As of today we are without a US Rep. The sun is shining more brightly, the birds are singing more heartily, even neglected pets have full bellies, and orphans and cancer patients are more optimistic.

The local towns should make it a holiday; Meadows Free Day. I was wondering the other day what folks like John Boner and Paul Ryan think about what's going on in the country and with the GOP specifically. Boner is a cricket if he's still alive, probably chain smoking in the garage with a blanket over his head. I've read that Ryan took a gig at Fake News in some capacity but haven't seen him or heard much from him. I guess they're both speechless.
