2016 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

That was Karl Rove announcing Romney's coronation in 2012.

Interesting article here as to why Trump likes the term "disgusting" so much an applies it to those he opposes.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/won ... isgusting/

Doesn't say why he likes "yoooooge" though.

Pretty nasty. POTUS aspirants raise money and campaign, duh, briefings and hearings aren't that important to be at when one has aides, 1 vote margins are rare and I'll bet Rubio was there for most or all of them. Right To Rise USA is Jeb's super pac.

It's awful of Hillary* to run a sleazy attack ad like that.

* Republicans blamed the attack "documentary" "When Mitt Romney Came to Town" on Democrats. Never mind that it was created and promoted by Romney's Republican opponents in the primaries.

Writer/director Jason Meath, who between elections works for an ad firm run and staffed by Republican election officials, had a tougher job this election cycle: He wrote and directed Citizen Carly, an attempt to make Carly Fiorina - a lower profile, less successful, less rational, less honest version of Donald Trump - look like a viable candidate.

BTW that firm, 360Advantage, was established by PR firm Burson-Marsteller and another company. Burson-Marsteller's write-up on SourceWatch is a must-read.
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow described B-M as follows in August 2012:

"Who's Burson-Marsteller? Well, let me put it this way -- when Blackwater killed those 17 Iraqi civilians in Baghdad, they called Burson-Marsteller. When there was a nuclear meltdown at Three Mile Island, Bobcock & Wilcox, who built that plant, called Burson-Marsteller.

"[After the] Bhopal chemical disaster that killed thousands of people in India, Union Carbide called Burson-Marsteller. Romanian dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu -- Burson-Marsteller. The government of Saudi Arabia, three days after 9/11 -- Burson-Marsteller.

"The military junta that overthrew the government of Argentina in 1976, the generals dialed Burson-Marsteller. The government of Indonesia, accused of genocide in East Timor, Burson-Marsteller.

"The government of Nigeria, accused of genocide in Biafra, Burson- Marsteller. Philip Morris, Burson-Marsteller. Silicone breast implants, Burson-Marsteller. The government of Columbia trying to make all those dead union organizers not getting in the way of the new trade deal, they called Burson-Marsteller.

"Do you remember Aqua Dots? Little toy beads coded with something that turned into to date rape drug when kids put the beads in their mouths and all these kids ended up in comas? Yes, even the date rape Aqua Dots people called Burson-Marsteller.

"When evil needs public relations, evil has Burson-Marsteller on speed dial. That`s why it was creepy that Hillary Clinton`s pollster and chief strategist in her presidential campaign was Mark Penn, CEO of Burson- Marsteller."
And that's just the opener.

Kim Davis was using her government position to dictate her personal interpretation of Christianity to other citizens. Mike Huckabee and other candidates strongly supported this use of government power. You don't expect them to hypocritically oppose government power in the Y'all Qaeda case, do you?

[...]

Just kidding! Of course they would. Mike Huckabee is probably organizing a food and tobacco drop right now.

What makes you think that people bringing in supplies will be stopped

Best solution is to try to cut them off as much as possible, but mainly ignore them until they leave. Then arrest and prosecute them as felony.

Same for anyone sending in supplies

This should have been done with cliven and the lack of response there is what created this

Cliven was on his own land and the mere presence of "guests" was not criminal. I agree that he should have been busted for his crimes, but doubt there would have been legal basis for a blockade unless a legit attempt to arrest him was physically prevented.

I don't know that they are or will be, but it's been done to me and it would be the first thing I thought of if I was an LEO, not only for food, fuel and water but also for the possibility of weaponry and ammo.

Plus, there's the real possibility that any outside suppliers would be charged with abetting, as you suggest. That's happened in my circles, too.

Cliven owes the taxpayers millions
Arrest him

Patriot thugs threatened law enforcement with guns
Arrest them
