Washington Post: Trump administration links terrorism and immigration, but an expert doubts the math

A Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security survey issued on Tuesday claims that three-quarters of those convicted for terrorism offenses were "foreign-born."

But to reach this ratio, the DHS had to count people the US government had extradited to the US to face trial for terrorism attacks committed in foreign countries.

Whatever Trump needs to make immigrants look evil.

And that ratio would also be affected by the original charge. For the same or similar action, guys named "Mohammed" are more likely to be charged with "terrorism" than guys named "Bubba."

The talking heads on MSNBC are saying that as a practical matter this will delay POSPOTUS' unilateral action by a year to a year and half. This puts the ball back in the hands of the do-nothing Congress, either soon or after the midterms.

Aside: I had a hardcore Earth Firster tell me once, "We never win in the woods. What we do is delay the logging until the lawyers win."

There may be a parallel to the pro-Dreamer actions over the last few months leading to the government shutdown, budget compromise, and finally this court ruling slowing the process.
