The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Meh, faith won't raise the dead, but paper clips, duct tape, and high voltage electricity will. You just have to decide how high you want to raise the dead before you start.
Viagra is better at that than prayer, too . . . or so I've heard.

How March Madness is planning to combat the spread of coronavirus

In a game where around 20,000 players, coaches and fans will be hyping each other up with handshakes and hi-fives -- a precaution the Center for Disease Control says to avoid for people who are at a higher risk of getting sick -- that's not easy.
One of them could mean empty seats. But can the NCAA play a game without fans?

It's certainly prepared for it.

NCAA hoops tournaments will be played without fans

"While I understand how disappointing this is for all fans of our sports, my decision is based on the current understanding of how COVID-19 is progressing in the United States," NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a statement. "This decision is in the best interest of public health, including that of coaches, administrators, fans and, most importantly, our student-athletes. We recognize the opportunity to compete in an NCAA national championship is an experience of a lifetime for the students and their families. Today, we will move forward and conduct championships consistent with the current information and will continue to monitor and make adjustments as needed."

Emmert told The Associated Press that canceling was considered.

Freaking scum. Can't wait for the "we're being persecuted" argument.
I will start believing in god if he's killed by COVID-19.

I agree with the good pastor about his parishioners continuing to gather in large, tightly spaced numbers. See? We can all get along.

Yeah, I read about that the other day. The guy that bought them paid several million bucks for them. Someone should take the things to trump so he can see some REAL fake news.

'Dead Sea Scrolls fragments' at Museum of the Bible are all fakes, study says

I believed y'all, I mostly wanted to learn more about this Museum of the Bible. Turns out that it is founded and owned by the Green family of Hobby Lobby infamy.

What would be even better is if he had insured his fake scrolls and the insurance company refused to pay the claim for fake scrolls. This is where his faith must step up. I guess.

Idk who or what "the big Mo" is in this context.
I believe that there's some disagreement over whether Allah = the Christian God, and especially Jesus.
Neither are real, I'm just teasing any lurking Christians and making a joke for our non-Islamophobes.

The three stooges were originally gonna be Jesus, Buddha, and Mo. It was ultimately decided that Jesus' (Curly's) line "Hey, Buddha, hey Mo" just wasn't right, so they changed Buddha to "Larry" and Jesus became "Curly" and Mo was the sole survivor. So it became "Hey Larry, hey Mo." woo woo woo woo

You know, I still think about my insane crazy Egyptian roommate Mohammed being abducted from right in front of us by 4 huge Egyptians one morning every time I hear the name.

Is there a 'rest of the story'?

Nearly 3 dozen who attended church event test positive for coronavirus

Is it that there is no god to protect churchgoers, or just that s/he doesn’t like Pentecostals?

I would have thought by now that the snake handlers would have broken out the snakes. Maybe this Sunday; or they could be holding out until Easter.

Predictable  :
Amid COVID-19 Spread, Influential D.C. Pastor Says 'God's Wrath' Caused By LGBTQ People

An evangelical pastor who holds regular Bible studies on Capitol Hill for members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet is suggesting that the crisis America is now experiencing is proof of God’s disapproval of LGBTQ Americans.

In a Bible study he published last weekend, Ralph Drollinger pointed to several signs he believes are evidence of God’s displeasure ― including “a proclivity toward lesbianism and homosexuality” and the “religion of environmentalism.” Ultimately, he says, these groups are “largely responsible” for God’s wrath on America today....
:gayhappy: :obscene-birdiered:
A spokesperson for Capitol Ministries told HuffPost on Thursday that “Drollinger does not believe the coronavirus is God’s judgment on homosexuals, environmentalists or any other group of people, and has never said that it is.”
:confusion-scratchheadblue:
... White House spokesperson Judd Deere told NBC on Wednesday that Trump doesn’t attend Drollinger’s Bible class, adding that the notion that homosexuality created the pandemic was “disgusting” and “certainly not something the President believes.” ...

Here's a nice story about Christian socialists and how they lived true Christian values in their time. It sure is amazing how "Christians" have strayed from their path and still brazenly dare to call themselves righteous. A scandal of biblical proportions they smugly ignore.
