Presidents* Trump & Putin bromance

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

The whole point of delaying the Mueller report release by a month was obviously to cement in the "minds" of always gullible, ovine and slow Trumpettes the Barr and POSPOTUS' "exoneration" lie. It worked.

Trump Voters Who Heard Mueller Decline To Clear Trump Still Think His Report Clears Trump

George Nader, Witness in Mueller Investigation, Arrested on Child Porn Charges

Key phrases:

United Arab Emirates
child pornography, as young as three years old
operated within Trump’s inner circle
Blackwater (mercenaries) founder Erik Prince, advisor to the Trump campaign (brother of Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos)
Kirill Dmitriev, the head of one of Russia’s (government created) sovereign wealth funds
Donald Trump Jr.
Joel Zamel, the owner of Israeli-linked intelligence firm Wikistrat
a social media manipulation plan that would use fake accounts to promote Trump on Facebook and elsewhere

Any questions?
The Daily Beast, Well, I've never heard of that one before. Good catch, Vrede.

    Impeachment fever will test Pelosi's grip as Congress returns this week

    I'm glad I'm not her. She has to weigh:
    Best for the country;
    Best for the Dems;
    The rule of law;
    POTUS accountability;
    US govt balance of power as envisioned by the founders;
    The odds that any Senate Repugs would choose country over party;
    Other stuff.

    My heart says impeach, my head says idk.

    I remember watching the Watergate hearings on tv back when GOP and Democratic Senators put ethics and the nation before party and graft. Howard baker was a Republican Senator and he saw what had been going on; Sam Ervin was a Democratic Senator and saw what had been going on. What we have now is shame and degradation elevated to normalcy. I figure the "fuck this shit" moment is not far off.

    FEC chair makes it '100 percent clear' candidates can't accept election help from a foreign power

    In the wake of President Trump's admission that he would accept political dirt on his opponents offered by foreign governments, Federal Election Commission Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub tweeted a statement that she hopes gets through to all Americans.

    "Let me make something 100 percent clear to the American public and anyone running for public office: It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election," Weintraub said. "This is not a novel concept. Electoral intervention from foreign governments has been considered unacceptable since the beginnings of our nation."

    ... "I would not have thought that I needed to say this."

    Jimmy Carter: Investigation would show Trump lost 2016 election

    Former President Jimmy Carter said Friday morning that Donald Trump is an illegitimate president due to Russian interference in the 2016 election.

    Carter, 94, was speaking at a Carter Center event on human rights in Leesburg, Va., when he was asked how he would deal with Russian meddling in the last presidential election.

    “The president himself should condemn it, admit that it happened, which I think 16 intelligence agencies have already agreed to say,” said Carter. “And there’s no doubt that the Russians did interfere in the election, and I think the interference although not yet quantified, if fully investigated would show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016. He lost the election, and he was put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf.”

    Moderator Jon Meacham then asked if Carter thought Trump was an illegitimate president. Carter paused before replying as the audience laughed.

    “Based on what I just said, which I can’t retract,” said Carter smiling, “I would say yes.” ...

    Interesting theory found:
    He wants to be impeached. Then Pence will pardon him. Then he gets away with all the crimes he has committed while in office. And he’ll walk. Just vote him out and then they can meet him at the door with handcuffs and march him off to prison where he belongs. Lock him up! Dumptrump2020

    Meh, he'll probably just pardon himself and add to the constitutional crisis debate.

    DHS warns of Russian interference plans in 2020 elections, as Washington focuses on Ukraine

    ... The big problem in the U.S. is that there has been no high-level political attention to this. Congress has not passed one single legislative bill to at least try to curb the spread of disinformation online.
    The Dem House has passed bills. Moscow Mitch has blocked them. This inaction is deliberate. POSPOTUS and Repugs are traitors that want Putin interfering on their behalf.
    … the Senate Intelligence Committee released a report providing more details about how Russia targeted American voters with a disinformation campaign designed to help Donald Trump win the 2016 presidential election against Hillary Clinton using a combination of targeted advertising, fake news and content that exploited divisive social issues....
    Even the Repugs can no longer deny that the Russians were key to Dolt .45’s very narrow EC “win”. In other words, they join Barr, Rosenstein, Mueller, all of our intel agencies and even Pence: POSPOTUS fanboys were and still are useful idiots for Russia. However, they will never admit it. If they had the smarts and spines for that, they never would have become Trumpettes in the first place.

    Lots more interesting stuff in this in-depth article. Those are just a couple of items that stood out to me.

    Vladimir Putin is looking unstoppable after a string of victories that Trump handed to him on a plate

    Vladimir Putin is on a roll.

    This week alone, the Russian president:

    Replaced the US as the chief power broker in Syria.

    Drew a NATO member (Turkey), and buffer between Russia and Europe, close into his orbit.

    Showed global ambition by hosting all 54 African nations to sign billions in new business deals....
    It COULD be that all this is the result of Dolt .45's stupidity, inexperience, naivety and fondness for dictators, but it wouldn't look much different if he “really is a Russian agent”.

    Comments:
    The active measures done to help Trump win the US election, caused social turmoil in Europe, hobble the EU and NATO, plus get America's military into unwinnable Military adventures has handsomely paid dividends to Putin.
    Trump's base plus the GOP in the House and Senate are FINE with this. That is because FOX is fine with it. Scary times for our country.
    Trump and supporters are not finished handing more territory to the Russians.
    Trump is the best investment Putin ever made
    So is the GOP. And the NRA. It's astonishing how much conservatives hate this nation.

    In reversal, prosecutors recommend up to 6 months prison time for former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn

    :---P

    Probably should be more, but still - Lock lying Pizzagate Flynn up!
    Flynn should have shot a couple of unarmed ISIS teenagers in the head before he got out of the Army; had he done so, he would have already been pardoned and be lying on a beach in Brooklyn. What a general dumbass.

    Firing Sondland and reassigning Vindman were the first salvos now that the GOP Senate has authorized all sleaze and criminality. Now:

    Yeah, well, Flynn is certainly qualified as General sleaze; the asshole has now decided that he was tricked into pleading guilty for something he didn't do. Pretty lame defense in my opinion. I can't imagine confessing or pleading guilty to something I didn't do, even if it was just a goddamn jaywalking ticket. Besides, I'm not convinced a three star general can be so easily intimidated. He's a General liar just like he's been accused of. As for Roger Stone, trump's interference in this is just another clip down the fascist road which the cult gushes and fawns over. The national news tonight says four DOJ prosecutors have resigned over it. We have to change this or die trying. It's beginning to get bad.
