I wonder if Madison showed them his gun.....
Metaphor? :o
 Could go either way....he's always bragging about being armed but never affirms it as far as I know. Personally I think he should always have a gun with him in case he wants to kill himself.

Almost every customer and employee is unmasked in this video of a Florida supermarket

When NBC's Sam Brock walked into a Naples, Florida, grocery store to buy a sandwich on Wednesday, he didn't expect to see almost every employee and customer in the supermarket, people of all ages, not wearing a mask.

Collier County and city regulations require masks in businesses, but it quickly became apparent that these rules weren't being enforced. In fact, a sign outside the store stated that customers don't have to wear masks if they have a medical condition preventing them from doing so and that store employees "cannot legally ask" them about it to verify.

Aflie Oakes, the owner of the supermarket in question, Oakes Farms Seed to Table, told Brock about his views on masking in an interview that aired Thursday on TODAY.

"I know that the masks don't work, and I know that the virus has not killed 400,000 people in this country. That's total hogwash," Oakes said. "Why don't we shut the world down because of a heart attack? Why don't we lock down cities because of heart attacks?"

... "They're all immune, until they're not. And then an overworked, overstressed healthcare professional has to clean up their mess," wrote one Twitter user.

"The management (at Oakes Farmes) is intentionally spreading a deadly virus," added another.

"Medical accommodation means you can get your groceries shopped and delivered to you at the sidewalk," tweeted a third. "Or delivered at home. Or some other method. It's not a free pass to be an a------." ...

Yeah, I know where the place is from the map, but we never went there. Anyway, the fact that he can get by with that with no repercussions is another good reason not to be in Florida.

Poll: Vaccine acceptance rising — except among Republicans

...

Image

... According to the survey, the percentage of Americans who have been vaccinated or plan to be vaccinated increases with education, climbing from 37 percent for those without a college degree to 71 percent for college graduates. Yet while this dynamic exists in both parties, it is largely Republicans without a college degree who are driving the overall numbers down: A full 49 percent now say they won’t get vaccinated versus just 35 percent who say they will or already have. In comparison, Democrats without a college degree favor COVID-19 vaccination by 33 points.

... most Americans see the current administration as an improvement over the one that came before it. Asked whether they approve of the way President Biden is handling the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, 53 percent said yes and just 29 percent said no. Asked the same question about Biden’s predecessor, President Donald Trump, a mere 37 percent approved. Nearly half (48 percent) did not.
It's a shame about any innocent victims, but I otherwise support this Repug choice.

Republicans cite ‘public health emergency’ for skipping Covid relief votes while speaking at maskless CPAC

Several Republican lawmakers said they could not attend Congress on Friday to vote for the coronavirus stimulus package due to the pandemic, but were due to appear in-person at the conservative conference taking place in Orlando, Florida, this weekend.

According to CNN, the Republican lawmakers included those who were former US president Donald Trump’s closest allies - some of whom were scheduled to speak at this weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida.

The group of twelve House Republicans said they were unable to attend a number of votes in the House of Representatives that day "due to the ongoing public health emergency”, in a written letter seen by CNN....

Among those who signed the letter were Lauren Boebert, the newly elected Representative for Colorado’s 3rd congressional district, who is scheduled to speak at CPAC on Saturday evening....

Other House Republicans who signed the letter were Paul Gosar, Jim Banks, Madison Cawthorn, Ted Budd, Mark Green, Ronny Jackson, Mike Kelly, Ralph Norman, Devin Nunes, Greg Steube and Darrell Issa....

Democrats were angered by the decision by Republicans to cite the Covid-19 pandemic for their reasoning no to vote in-person on Friday, having criticised a system for proxy voting and ridiculing Democrats who used it in the past.

House Rules chairman Jim McGovern, a Democrat of Massachusetts, responded by saying that "apparently hypocrisy has become a tenant of the Republican Party”.

He added: “Let me get this straight: these members can't vote in person because of the pandemic, but they manage to attend CPAC? They were even maskless at this super spreader event. It's outrageous!"

Mr Cawthown, the Representative for North Carolina's 11th congressional district, wrote in a Twitter post last year that "leaders show up no matter how uncertain the times are ... the Democrats are cowards for not showing up to work"....

Doing everything bigger in Texas.

Texas gov lifts all coronavirus restrictions on businesses, rescinds mask mandate
‘Neanderthal thinking’: Biden criticises Texas and Mississippi governors for dropping coronavirus restrictions

... “I think it’s a big mistake,” the president told reporters on Wednesday.

Despite the nation’s progress with vaccine distribution, including the president’s recent announcement that US supplies should support doses for every American by the end of May, “the last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking that, in the meantime, everything’s fine, take off your mask and forget it,” he said.

“As of yesterday, we had lost 511,874 Americans,” he said. “We’re going to lose thousands more ... Getting a shot in someone’s arm and getting the second shot, [that is] going to take time, and it’s critical, critical, critical, critical that they follow the science. Wash your hands, hot water. Do it frequently, wear a mask and stay socially distanced. I know you all know that. I wish the heck some of our elected officials knew it.”
That is a very very nasty, unfair and unpresidential thing to say . . . about Neanderthals.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki also told reporters on Wednesday that “this entire country has paid the price for political leaders who ignored the science when it comes to the pandemic”, adding that the administration hopes that the states will continue to follow guidance from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the president’s campaign to wear masks within the first 100 days of his administration.

“We’re asking people to listen to health experts, medical experts, the CDC, to [Dr Anthony Fauci], to others who are basing their recommendations on how to save people’s lives,” she said....

Texas has the third-highest coronavirus death toll after California and New York. More than 44,000 Texans have died from the disease....
Texas also is 48th for per capita vaccine admin and its other stats are worse than when the mask mandate was imposed. :x
Beto O’Rourke calls Texas governor’s coronavirus reopening order a ‘death warrant’
‘Abbott is killing the people of Texas,’ says former congressman

...

... Other Democratic politicians in Texas criticised Mr Abbott’s decision to lift the mask mandate, with Houston mayor Sylvester Turner saying: ...
:---P :---P
... Texas has so far administered just under 6 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, with 2.07 million of those people now fully vaccinated, amounting to around 7 per cent of the state’s population....
:(

‘Psychopath’: Keith Olbermann faces backlash after saying vaccines shouldn’t be ‘wasted’ on Texas
The former sportscaster asked why the country is “wasting” vaccines on a state whose governor is lifting all virus precautions. Twitter’s reaction was swift.

Whiny Texans, cons and other COVIDiots are too stupid to understand hyperbole and too wussy to address the point that Olbermann is making.
