 Son of animal hoarder (SOAH) unloads 500 parakeets at local shelter. Cages were packed like Japanese commuters on subways.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/son-animal-h ... 46949.html
Yeah, I saw that news story already on-line yesterday, although it didn't include the racist commentary about Japanese commuters.

I'm glad the shelter took in the parakeets. I hope most if not all the parakeets recover from their overcrowded ordeal.

Some years ago a parakeet landed in a tree on my property. I took it in and it lived a few more years, but eventually succumbed to some sort of malady. It was basically barfing non-stop.

If Europeans or Americans or Samoans or Haitians or Cubans were packed into subway cars by train company employees whose only job is to shove people into the car so the doors will shut, I would possibly have picked one of those, but since the Japanese are the only ones who do this as far as I know, I picked them. There's nothing racist about it. You sound like some kind of neurotic Republican babbling a response to something he either doesn't understand or is just ignorant about. If I had referred to the Japanese as "Japs" that would have been racist. Failure of comprehension really is your strong suit. And I bet that parakeet that you refer to probably died on an electrified wire after you attempted to bite its head off. It happened because you were holding it by the legs and it started slapping you in the face before you could bite off the head. Everybody knows it. Many people say it.
 Ozzy Useless.

Oh, your comment was most definitely racist. And the more you deny it, the more racist it is proved to be.

Why?

Not because you mentioned packed Japanese subways.

No, it's because you compared them to cages full of parakeets.

The parakeet defense fund will be sending you an informative booklet to help you understand all this and avoid future errors.
That would be species-ist. You fail English, again.

Of course, we all know that you really meant "racist" all along, merely because neoplacebo happened to mention a well known social FACT about the Japanese. neoplacebo accurately called out your comprehension fail, and now you're desperately deflecting because that is always your recourse rather than being adult enough to say "Opps" and apologize.

This is all especially ironic since you've displayed your own racism and other bigotries on multiple occasions. Your lame and transparent attempt to project your flaws upon neoplacebo is an utter fail, as usual.

Poor thing. But it looked like the sea lion was used to the rescue procedure. At least it didn't seem too interested in biting its rescuers. There are plenty of sea lions around San Francisco and the surrounding waters, especially on the western part of the shore. Haven't heard of any needing to be rescued up here, but it probably happens. Back in the 1970's I worked out at Ft. Miley; most days you could hear them. They do make a lot of noise.

Pier 39 is probalby more famous for its sea lion gatherings, though.

Here's a web page with photos of the area near Fort Miley (where there is still a VA Hospital in operation):

This one has toured at least two other places where he had to be rescued. The Sea World people come out and get him, keep him at Sea World for a couple of weeks to make sure he's OK, then turn him loose. I think they ought to keep him. His street luck is going to run out sometime.

I gather they are relatively intelligent animals, so who knows, he may like getting the human contact now and then. Maybe he thinks he's the one doing the rescuing?

Cubby, that's a fantastic live cam. I kept it on for an hour or so, in another tab. I heard some noises and switched to it and lo and behold there were Oryx and Springbok galore at the water hole. Thanks so much for sharing it!

 To quote Don Jr. "I love it." And not only is this bird an exemplary stomper, it's amazingly an ambidextrous stomper but seems to favor a left stomping stance. This is quite appropriate considering I am left handed and also favor a left foot stomp. I stomp in solidarity with my spirit bird.

If there's a section on hummingbird electrocution or cat stretching, I'd bet anything he's behind it. His fish long for him to get his face close but I think he's also covered them in wire. Probably electrocutes any that take the jump or at least gives them a strong jolt.

1) I'm not a hacker. Never been one, and have no such plans for the future.

2) I don't electrocute birds, nor do I stretch cats. How much are you willing to bet? I'm already retired, but some additional $$$ is always welcome. Put up or shut up.

3) The other day a big koi did suddenly jump out of the pond. Luckily I was nearby in the patio kitchen and was able to lift it back into the pond. I have no idea why it jumped. And it's a big one, about 18" long. I suppose I could blame you for its pond exit. At least that's what I will tell it. Oh, and the koi is fine today. Knock on bamboo.

Undetermined. At the least you glorify and enable cat stretchers.

Asinine.

Sick of its imprisonment. Suicide is preferable.
