The Commander in Chief of British Armed Forces is the Crown. Currently the Queen. Like our President delegates much of the authority to make decisions to the Secretary of Defense and joint chiefs so does the Queen. All officers swear allegiance to the Crown not to any other member of the British government.

I was an interim plant manager in England and had the same incorrect notion that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain was the Commander in Chief.
