Seven challengers can and probably will be weeded out before the primary. The good sign of that, though, is that there does seem to be quite a bit of opposition to the self-admitted liar and scumbag. With all the available Repug's in that district to choose from, it's hard to understand how anybody with even a piece of borrowed brain could think he ought to be re-elected. Sure being a "conservative firebrand" is fine and attacking the Dems is great sport, but at the end of the day nobody can name anything whatsoever that he's done for the District except make it the butt of national jokes.

Chuck Edwards will be worse - just as RW, more effective, more electable in generals, too stupid to put his ad on his campaign website or YT. Otherwise, I'd share with you how bad it is.O Really wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 11:17 amSeven challengers can and probably will be weeded out before the primary. Even that math doesn't add up. Who has a 25 gallon gas tank (besides O Really)? The cost of filling up your gas tank has gone up about $1 a gallon since Joe Biden was sworn in. Western North Carolinians are paying about $25 more every time they go to the pump than they did in January 2020, when Biden became president. Fuel prices are now at a seven-year high.

Sure Edwards is awful, but bottom line is that they're all going to vote the same way. The difference could be whether the district benefits and how. According to GasBuddy, gas prices in AVL area are mid-$3 well below the national average. Home prices (outside of Asheville itself) are below national average. Run some ads in places with Democrats. Don't let any more Floridians in. Import a new and improved electorate.
BTW, I filled up the Jeep yesterday at $5.66. That was a good price locally. Stations just off the freeways are over $6.

So in McCarthy's raking of Maddie over the coals, he says, "“It’s just frustrating. There’s no evidence behind his statements … I told him you can’t make statements like that, as a member of Congress, that affect everybody else and the country as a whole.”

Maddy could be in trouble, but it's pretty sad when after all he's done, said, and not done, the "last straw" for some voters is a traffic violation.

I could see some people putting up with Maddy's ummm, "eccentricities" if he was bringing some bacon to the district. He's not the first congress critter to have baggage. Alcee Hastings, who was indicted for bribery among other things and booted from his judgeship BEFORE being elected to Congress and then had various issues in office and was a favourite punching bag of Repugs, But he represented a South Florida constituency very well for 30ish years. But Maddy has done jackshit.

IIRC, he did extol the benefits of the infrastructure bill for the district even though he voted against it, like many other Republicans.O Really wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 2:46 pmI could see some people putting up with Maddy's ummm, "eccentricities" if he was bringing some bacon to the district. More seriously, a MadCaw withdrawal, perhaps after some hidden type of bribery and/or threats, is a real possibility.
MadCaw bit begins at 8:35.

Too many skeletons in my closet. Nothing vile, but no way does a con district ever elect me. I would campaign and vote for banni, though. Why doesn't one of our fine BRD stalwarts from NC run for his seat?

I'm no help. I don't even live there. Got to fight these TN fights. Make sure Meadows don't try to register to vote from a shack on Lookout Mountain. That treacherous bastard is liable to try anything to be king asshole of the universe. I have a stink eye on him.

I'll run if Meadows will lend me his single-wide address, or maybe they'll believe "Oceanside" is somewhere in the mountains.
