The Music Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Sometimes when people get to be 70ish their show is a shadow of its former self. Others adapt to their limitations, if any, and still put on a great performance. I'm guessing Springsteen would be among the latter.

But if not, we always have Glory Days...

I've been disappointed by old rockers, and not even 70ish ones, a bunch of times - War and Santana being notable exceptions - so much so that I mostly gave up trying. But, I'd guess that you're correct about Springsteen.

i agree. And it brings to mind the video I saw of Mick Jagger about a week ago on the evening news. It was a short clip of him "moving like Jagger" not long after his medical episode. The Stones tour that had been postponed for medical reason is now back on. Jagger is 75 years old. And the fact that Keith Richards is still alive speaks for itself.

They should never let David Crosby stand anywhere close to the mike ever again.

And I'm on the edge of my seat for the next Yoko Ono release. But I've heard other folks say that they really don't like how some really famous singers sing. I like all of the following but have heard others disparage each of them; Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin. Just no accounting for personal taste I guess.

Otoh, Stills and Nash were ongoing successes for awhile, but knew when to hang it up, and Neil Young is Superman. I saw CSN, no Y, in the 80s (or early 90s?). It was okay in a nostalgic sense, but I wasn't blown away and didn't do it again. Nash had some really good solo output at the time.

You jest, I think, but just last October, Ono's first in 5 years:

                "Why" is indeed the question.

:puke-left: I guess that about covers it. It's either the sort of thing you'd rather read than hear or the sort of thing that never should have happened.

Didn't want to be a total downer, so I looked up one more from the album. Not as awful as the other 2, but still the first time in my life that I couldn't wait for the song to just be over already:
