The NC House is considering a bill to protect the billboard industry over trees and the scenic beauty of North Carolina's roads.
The bill would allow more tree cutting along roads to improve the visibility of billboards, weakening protections for redbuds, dogwoods and other trees. It would also limit local control over the location of billboards.
H 645 will enable billboard advertising firms to profit at the public’s expense. It contains many requests from the industry that have been rejected in past legislative sessions.
BREAKING: Endangered Species Facing Extinction — Act Now
A shocking new United Nations report found that up to a million species are threatened with extinction, many within decades. Yet, the Trump administration is still pushing to roll back vital Endangered Species Act protections for some of our planet’s most imperiled wildlife.
... Send your message now: Demand that President Trump, the Interior Department, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service do everything they can to protect our fragile ecosystems and wildlife before it’s too late!
An atheist was walking through the woods. ‘What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!’ he said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look and saw a seven foot grizzly bear charge towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in on him. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant the atheist cried out ‘Oh my God!’
Time stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. ‘You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don’t exist and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?’ The atheist looked directly into the light: ‘It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the bear a Christian?’
‘Very well’ said the voice.
The light went out.
The sounds of the forest resumed.
And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head and spoke: ‘Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.’
Can Rick Perry read? I am aware he has glasses now but I'm not sure if it's just a ruse.
I'm hoping that one or more of the "DOE officials" can read . . . and is not an asshole.
Well, let's keep our fingers crossed; I was getting nervous since I read a story yesterday that some sort of default judgement against the fabulous R Kelly had been dismissed because he can't read.....I had intimations the trump administration will start using this as an excuse. Like "oh, we never got that summons or subpoena or if we did, it was filed away since the Chief of Staff (Mulvaney) cannot read. It's not unconstitutional; it's just unintelligible."
Nearly every country in the world has agreed upon a legally binding framework to reduce the pollution from plastic waste except for the United States, U.N. environmental officials say....
That's 187 out of 193. Welcome the US to the list of "shit-hole" countries.
Fortunately, as one of the articles mentioned, the US will still be impacted when it tries to ship plastics to countries that are part of the agreement.

... The family-owned company is headed by Chilean businessman Andrónico Luksic, who bought a $5.5 million mansion in Washington shortly after Donald Trump won the presidency.
