Now now, pessimist, at some point everyone will be dead.
Forgot to mention, at the family picnic on the 4th in the park there was a lovely contingent of 200 uniformed cops from multiple jurisdictions along with helicopter and drone surveillance.
The cherry was the snipers on commrrcial and condominium rooftops surrounding the park.
You could taste the freedom.
I should start a freedom thread on LNF .

They win if we have to live with fear and repression.
... The killer could still face the death penalty on capital murder charges in state court....
Why bother?
Carrying an assault-style rifle, the attacker targeted mostly Hispanic shoppers when he killed 23 and injured 22 more in the US-Mexico border town of El Paso.
The gunman, who is white, had posted a hate-filled, anti-immigrant screed online minutes before he sprayed shoppers with bullets.
In February, he pleaded guilty to 90 charges, including 23 counts for hate crime acts that resulted in death, 22 hate crime acts that caused bodily injury, 23 counts of using a firearm in a federal crime of violence resulting in death and 22 counts of using a firearm in a federal crime of violence....
He admitted to leaving his home near Dallas - roughly 650 miles away - to go to the border town, which is 80% Hispanic, to target Latinos.
Those who were killed ranged in age from a three-year-old child, whose parents were also killed, to elderly grandparents. Eight of the victims held Mexican citizenship.
You can call it "90 life sentence" if you like, but if he's in prison until he dies, it's still just one life. You haven't punished him any more by calling it more. And sure, you may get a "death penalty" but it'll be years before you actually kill him and in the meantime he gets more publicity for every appeal and then goes out in a blaze of coverage. You caught him. Put him in prison. Let him rot.
January was especially bad here.
There have been 2 mass killings in July, bringing the 2023 total to 30.
2019 was the worst year since 2006 or before, both for "Number of mass killings" and for "Number of mass killing victims". We're on pace to exceed it. Most mass killing victims by far are "Family" or "Acquaintance". Gun ownership INCREASES the danger, not decreases it.
The "Number of mass killing victims" over 65 is notable. At least 2 were 90-94 and at least 1 was 95 or older. "Most mass killers are men", by more than 12 to 1.
"Mass killing victims by sex" are roughly equal men and women.
At least 1 mass killing offender was younger than 10 and at least 3 were 10-14. At least 2 were 70-74. A plurality of "mass killing offenders" were non-Hispanic/Latino Whites.
Especially in the Bible Belt. Scroll all the way down to see the list of "mass killing incidents". 21 in red states

Hmmm.
... A man armed with 1,800 rounds of ammunition, a grenade and other explosives in his car unleashed a "murderous barrage of fire” as he ambushed officers who were investigating a routine crash, killing one and wounding two before a fourth stopped him and thwarted what authorities described as plans for further mayhem, officials said Wednesday.
Mohamad Barakat, 37, shot Officers Jake Wallin, Andrew Dotas and Tyler Hawes from inside his car on Friday, from about 15 to 20 feet away, before they could even reach for their guns, North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley said at a news conference. Wallin was killed while Dotas and Hawes remain hospitalized in critical condition. Wrigley said Barakat also shot and injured a bystander, who was trying to run away when she was hit twice.
But Officer Zach Robinson, who just happened to be nearby, “disabled” Barakat's .223 -caliber rifle with a difficult shot from his own 9 mm handgun from about 75 feet (22.86 meters) away. Wrigley said Barakat — who was on the ground — then picked up a handgun and waved it around. As Robinson moved closer, he ordered Barakat to drop the gun 16 times, then killed him in a confrontation that lasted about two minutes, Wrigley said....
Investigators found 1,800 rounds of ammunition, three long guns, four handguns, numerous ammo magazines, explosives, canisters with gasoline and a homemade hand grenade in Barakat's car, he said. Officials released a photograph showing that eight of the magazines bore American flag stickers or decals....

Makes me proud.
Mohamad Barakat
Obviously not a gun problem or an American problem.

"... There were several groups at the park and some type of altercation took place. At some point during that altercation, several people produced firearms and began shooting." ...
The shooter who ambushed Fargo police officers on Friday, July 14, 2023, had these guns and ammunition in his possession at the time of the attack, authorities said.
Then, there was the gasoline, propane, explosives and homemade grenade.
Three canisters of gasoline and two propane tanks, which were filled with Tannerite, were found in Mohamad Barakat's car.
Homemade explosives, an arsenal of guns in his car and even more at his home. North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley gave a list of all the weapons acquired by July 14 shooter Mohamad Barakat during a press conference Friday, July 21.
What Fargo Police officers found inside Barakat's car — behind windows painted black — was an entire arsenal.
While shooting at the three officers, Barakat's scoped .223 rifle was modified with a binary trigger. The trigger allows the gun to shoot a bullet when it is pulled, then another when it is released. This enabled the shooter to fire 40 rounds in a matter of seconds.
"None of the officers even has so much as an opportunity to turn, to crouch, to grab for their service weapon. Nothing. It's that rapid. They drop, drop, drop," Wrigley said....
When the FBI searched Barakat's apartment, they found two 12-gauge shotguns, a .22 handgun, a deer rifle, another .223 rifle, more live ammo, grenade parts , and several trail cams....
The outgunned cop with a pistol was a very lucky hero in destroying Barakat's virtually full-auto rifle.

It's an unconstitutional resolution, unlikely to pass and utterly Useless if it did pass. However, it will look good in Rep. Andy Ogles, R-TN and Sen. Mike Lee, R-UT's fundraising mailers to NRA members.
