Harvard kicks out Republican lawmaker for attack on election

Harvard University has cut its ties with a Republican lawmaker for her false voter fraud claims and Donald Trump’s election defeat.

The move against GOP congresswoman Elise Stefanik came in the wake of the Trump riot and after she was among 147 House Republicans to vote against certifying Joe Biden’s victory.

The prestigious university initially asked Ms Stefanik to stand down from its senior advisory committee but when she declined they removed the pro-Trump New York politician.

"Elise has made public assertions about voter fraud in November’s presidential election that have no basis in evidence, and she has made public statements about court actions related to the election that are incorrect," said Harvard Kennedy School Dean Douglas Elmendorf.

"Moreover, these assertions and statements do not reflect policy disagreements but bear on the foundations of the electoral process through which this country’s leaders are chosen.” ...

Florida man sued for not paying up after betting on Trump

A friendly $100 wager over the 2020 Presidential election has landed in a Florida small claims court.

Before the election, Sean Hynes, a Trump supporter from St. Petersburg, reached out to Jeffrey Costa, an acquaintance who is a Biden supporter from Atlanta. The deal was sealed on Facebook Messenger: If Trump won, Costa would pay $100. If Biden won, Hynes would pay up.

But once the votes were counted, Hynes refused to acknowledge the Democrat's victory, even after recounts, the Supreme Court’s rejection of court challenges and the Electoral College's confirmation, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Costa, 50, decided to sue. He's seeking the $100, plus $250 in court costs and $300 in interest on the unpaid bet....

“You should have the integrity in your principles to follow through with what you have proposed,” Costa told the newspaper....

When Costa told Hynes in December than he planned to sue for the money, Hynes unfriended him on Facebook, the newspaper reported....

“I also felt that if you’re going to live in a post-fact world, there are consequences to that,” he said.

There are several potentially destructive benefits that trump will get unless congress acts to stop it. Unlimited postage may not seem that bad until you consider the extreme that trump could take it.

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden will wait for a recommendation from his intelligence advisers on whether to share classified information with President Donald Trump after the Republican leaves office, Biden's top aide said on Sunday.

Ron Klain, the incoming White House chief of staff, made the comment after former principal deputy director of national intelligence, Sue Gordon, wrote an op-ed arguing against sharing such information with Trump once he has left the presidency.

"With this simple act — which is solely the new president’s prerogative — Joe Biden can mitigate one aspect of the potential national security risk posed by Donald Trump, private citizen," Gordon said in a Washington Post piece headlined "A former president Trump won't 'need to know.' Cut off his intelligence."

... Gordon, who resigned in 2019, said any former president was a foreign intelligence target but Trump "might be unusually vulnerable to bad actors with ill intent," citing, among other things, his business interests abroad.

Democratic House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff was more blunt, telling CBS' "Face The Nation" program, "I don't think he can be trusted with it."
