The LEO thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Yes liberals do make life more difficult and life is much simpler then one might believe. A Yes or No and rarely a maybe.
No reason to. If it's true and accurate, then that's the way it is. True or not, most people in US jails aren't in there for murder. And even among blacks, most are not in for murder. Did you even read the original article?

No one tried, moron. However, it was pointed out, even by your own link, that without adjusting for age, economic status and unequal policing your factoid is completely meaningless. Of course, as always, you're too racist and slow to understand this fundamental of middle school statistics. You just regurgitate what some racist website told you because you're unable to think for yourself or comprehend when things are explained to you even by the articles you cite.

Utah cop executes unarmed man who was listening to headphones, gets away with it
Dillon Taylor was murdered by Officer Bron Cruz outside of a Salt Lake City convenience store on August 11, 2014; he was unarmed and wearing headphones and minding his own business. Officer Cruz was acquitted of any wrongdoing on Oct 1, 2014. The DA who cleared him said "Taylor's shooting was justified not because he posed an actual threat, but because (Officer) Cruz reasonably perceived a threat."
The threat: Walking away, completely oblivious to the officer's presence.

Maybe to you, Colonel, but not to the real world. Here's a non-political example. About 30-something percent of people in the US are obese. Why is that? The simple yes/no answer is because they eat too much and move too little. The simple answer to losing weight is eat less and move more. But do you think it doesn't matter what is eaten and what/how is moved? Low quality food puts on pounds - too little food causes health problems. Each person has different genetics, different environments, different life conditions. So sure, in principle, eat less move more is true, but putting it into practicality is way more complex.

And if you like yes/no answers so well, tell us if you've stopped trolling gay bars - yes or no?

Boy do you spend all day with these difficult post? It's not about eating more or less volume or good food or bad. It's all about calories. Eat less of them and you'll lose weight.

You might want to consult somebody who actually knows about weight loss. It isn't just calories. That's another over-simplification.

So - I see you didn't answer the question yes/no. Why is that?

Nevermind, I know you won't answer that. Let me answer for you. You can't answer yes/no, because neither of those answers is accurate. Because the question assumed a fact not in evidence - that you have previously been trolling gay bars. So "yes" confirms that you were trolling gay bars but are doing so no longer and "no" confirms that you are still trolling gay bars. Neither answers the question accurately or truthfully. Well, that's the way most significant issues are. Somebody says "We've got too many people in prison" and somebody else says, "well just kill off a bunch of them." Or "turn some loose" or "build more prisons." None of those simplistic "answers" really address the issues.

Seems as though that when a lib is cornered the first few things they do is ignore the post and facts then play the race card, when that doesn't work play the gay card. What a sad life they must lead never thinking for themselves! No one ever mentioned gay sex but oreally was right on top of it.

So exactly what do you guys consider "a thought of your own"? Would it include reading an article and considering whether what the article says is likely true and accurate and then offering an opinion? Would it include agreeing with someone else as well as disagreeing? If "a thought of your own" has to be totally original, I'm thinking there's none to be found in any internet forum and rarely IRL.

Gallup: Most Americans Still See Crime Up Over Last Year

Image

Bottom Line

For more than a decade, Gallup has found the majority of Americans believing crime is up, although actual crime statistics have largely shown the crime rate continuing to come down from the highs in the 1990s and earlier....
So, are we somehow more stupid, or is there a deliberate effort by pols, media and police to make us more fearful?

Some of both, I'd say. There is clearly an effort by the pols and the media - maybe police - to create more fear. It used to be fluff pieces on the news about "yay, the pools are open" now are "the pools are open, we'll tell you how to keep your kid safe." Or "one unprovoked bear attack in a bunch of years and thousands of campers" turns into "kid attacked by bear - what you need to do to keep your family safe." Pols thrive on fear. "Evil Mexicans will take your jobs, sell your kids drugs, and kill your dog." "Buy a gun now or tonight you'll be robbed, raped, and maybe killed by drug-crazed liberals."
The "stupid" part is that a lot of people buy into that shit.

He could of shot him with his real gun then they would have something to really whine about. If I did that as a kid when I got home I would have been whooped again for not listening to the officer!
