The shooting occurred at approximately 4:30 pm on a residential property on Crestline Drive in Crete, according to Nebraska State Patrol Captain Sean Caradori.

Nebraska Crete Police Chief Gary Young said there was a report back in May in which the victims claimed that Booth flipped them off, told them to go back to where they came from and told them to speak English.

When asked if investigators think the shooting was racially motivated, Young responded, "There could be, we don't know. Certainly the context of 'Go home' and 'Speak English' lends itself to that."

He added that "most of the victims were outside of the home at the time of the shooting, but at least one was inside the home when they were struck."

Guatemalan woman shot by Nebraska neighbor 'felt like this was the end' as she rushed to save grandson

One of the seven people who were shot by a Nebraska neighbor over the weekend wasn’t sure her family would survive.

"I felt like this was the end," Maria Garcia Sanchez said about the shooting, which was so shocking to her that she wasn’t sure what was happening until she saw her 3-year-old grandson had been hit and sprang into action....

Sanchez, her husband, her 3-year-old grandson, her 8-year-old daughter, her 23-year-old son-in-law and two school-age nieces were injured in the shooting at their home in Crete. All seven have been released from the hospital, police said.

"Right now, thank God, we are recovering a bit,” she said. "With pain, but coming along."

Saul Lopez, interim executive director of Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim, a nonprofit group that supports Indigenous people in Nebraska, said many immigrants have had trouble adjusting to life in the state.

Police agencies rushed to Apalachee High School in Barrow County, Ga., on Wednesday after a shooting was reported. A suspect is in custody, officials say.

Four people are dead, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and another nine people were taken to hospitals with injuries.

Didn't I read that he had just started at this high school? In any case, I'm pretty sure the teachers hadn't bullied him and called him gay, and it might not even have been the kids he shot. Maybe he'd just become totally anti-social from his middle school experience. And maybe somebody who'd never met him before called him gay on his first day in high school. And maybe that new AR-15 was sitting there in his bedroom and kept calling his name.

We now know that he was considering a school shooting in the Spring of 2023. This feels like he had all Summer to plot.

If his old middle school fed into the high school he'd be dealing with many of the same kids. I might be wrong, but AFAIK being called gay isn't as devastating as it used to be, though bullying sucks as much as it ever has.

... Ehrens, Fischer and two other first grade Sandy Hook survivors who spoke to NBC News said they are hoping to turn the tide by electing Vice President Kamala Harris as president.

“It’s a no-brainer for me,” said survivor Lilly Wasilnak, 18.

The teens first met Harris at the White House on National Gun Violence Awareness Day on June 6, as they were preparing to graduate high school. They shared their individual accounts of the shooting with Harris, who thanked them for their courage.

“None of you should have had the experience that you’ve had at all,” Harris told them, according to a video released by the White House. “Know that you guys are moving the needle.”

Harris has said keeping students safe from gun violence at schools is a top priority. Her plan, which the survivors support, includes banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and requiring universal background checks.

Harris also champions so-called red flag laws that allow a family member or law enforcement to seek a court order to temporarily confiscate guns if they feel a gun owner may cause harm.

Matt Holden, another survivor who turned 18 last month, said these plans differ from those of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, who received backlash last week after saying school shootings are a “fact of life.”

“I’m casting a vote for the 26 who can’t,” Wasilnak said.
