Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I think we can all agree the situation in Ukraine is serious. I am of the generation that believes evil should be stopped. The Germans in WW II, Vietnam, and the Soviet Union's desire for parts of Europe with Russia now being the USSR's little brother.

I believe we should stop Putin. This action is for Europe more than Ukraine. However, our European brothers need to step up. It is not wrong for Trump to demand that. Also, geopolitics some times require alliances with questionable folks. Ukraine is corrupt and we should make sure our funding goes where it should.

Murdoch's WSJ:
Wall Street Journal Warns Of Donald Trump’s ‘Sellout’ Of Ukraine With A Scathing Reality Check
The conservative newspaper’s editorial board condemned the president’s “rhetorical assault” on Ukraine and the “looming” rehab of Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

... The Journal reminded readers of just some of the horrors of Putin’s brutal campaign in Ukraine — such as the killing or maiming of hundreds of thousands of people, the targeting of civilian homes, and the kidnapping of Ukrainian-born children. It contrasted all that, and more, with Trump’s talk about inviting Putin to America....

“Any peace Mr. Putin strikes has to be made with all of his legacy of destruction in mind,” it concluded.

On Wednesday, meanwhile, the newspaper’s board warned how Trump is tilting “toward a Ukraine sellout” with his “rhetorical assault” on the country and its President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the false claim that Ukraine started the war and that Zelenskyy is a “dictator.”

“Last week Mr. Trump said Ukraine can’t join NATO and must give up much of its territory to Russia—concessions to Mr. Putin with nothing in return,” it wrote.

“The better strategy than beating up Ukraine is making clear to Mr. Putin the arms and pressure he’ll face if the Russian doesn’t wind down the war to accept a durable peace,” the editorial concluded. “As it stands now, Mr. Trump’s seeming desperation for a deal is a risk to Ukraine, Europe, U.S. interests—and his own Presidency.”

These Republican senators have broken away from Trump after controversial Ukraine post

... The Senate’s recent-elected Majority Leader and the chamber’s top Republican, John Thune, disagreed with Trump’s analysis and said that there’s “no question who started the war,” adding that “Russia’s the aggressor here.”

Trump has long threatened to nominate primary challengers against members of his party in both chambers who he feels are going against his wishes.

“President Putin is evil, and he has to be stopped,” said Thom Tillis, senator for North Carolina and the moderate Republican who kicked off his 2026 re-election campaign in December and has angered GOP hardliners with his progressive politics.

Tillis also visited Ukraine over the weekend and is lobbying for continued military funding, told reporters....
Good for him, but "moderate ... progressive"???! :wtf:

Also:
Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski
Louisiana Senator John Kennedy
Texas Senator John Cornyn
Utah Senator John Curtis
North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer
Heroes. Slava Ukraini!

Otoh, there's the DonOLD-worshiping, pro-Putin wing of the GQP:
South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham
Missouri Senator Josh Hawley
Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt

Not quite a hero, ex-VP Q-tip has nothing to lose by dissing PINO:
People Are Genuinely Stunned They Agree With Mike Pence's Ukraine Tweet

In the past few days, Donald Trump has made several controversial statements about Ukraine....

And he has claimed that Zelenskyy's approval rating had dropped to 4%, when recent polls actually show it at 57%.
 It never ends with the Liar in Chief. The cult gushes in awe.

I think it's hilarious that the nutjobs are resurrecting the "Ukraine is corrupt" nonsense. Yeah, it WAS corrupt while that Russian puppet was the federal prosecutor of Ukraine. This is the same guy they trotted out in conjunction with their lie that Biden and Hunter each got five million dollars for helping get rid of the prosecutor. They just never stop with this shit. The former prosecutor was the corrupt one (he refused to prosecute corruption) and it wasn't "Biden's policy" to get rid of him. It was US government as well as EU policy that he be got rid of. Now the orange buffoon is rolling out a new slew of lies.....Zelenskyy is a dictator......Ukraine started the war. I truly find it amazing that the media doesn't spend more time screaming out loud over the continual lies of this lunatic.

Putin's massive :obscene-birdiered: to "peacemaker Trump":
Russia launches 267 drones into Ukraine, setting new record ahead of invasion's anniversary

... Russian drone and missile attacks have for months been a nightly occurrence. But Saturday night's 267 drones were the largest-ever such bombardment, breaking the previous record of 193 drones set in a December attack.
:ateeth:
Ukraine's air force said it shot down 138 Shahed attack drones, with 119 others lost in flight without causing any damage. Three drones flew into Belarus, the air force said in its statement to Telegram....

On Sunday, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha‎ said foreign leaders should note the latest Russian attack, referring to reports that the U.S. is blocking a planned G7 statement on the anniversary as it labels Russia as the aggressor.

"This demonstrates that avoiding calling Russia an aggressor does not change the fact that it is one," he said. "No one should trust Putin's words. Look at his actions instead."...

I saw the whole thing.

It was the most shameful bullying performance by trump and vance that could be imagined (and it was a performance).

Christiane Amanpour was holding her face in her hands in disbelief.

No shit you dumb orange fuck. He needs the biggest advantage possible against his adversary to have leverage in negotiating peace.

Did anyone ask Trump how appeasement worked out in world war II?

This is an alliance with Putin, not appeasement.
IMO this rant was written before the "meeting". The only reason this happened publicly rather than behind closed doors is to give PINO the excuse to play victim and ditch Ukraine in favor of POTUS Putin. Shameful.

The GQP Congress will be mostly silent and impotent, and the Cult will gush in awe.

So, it's on Europe now, but its recent swings to the right don't bode well.

I watched the encounter and describe it as unfortunate. I agree with Trump and Vance that Zellensky is ungrateful for what the US had done for Unkraine. That being said, the open forum was not the best place to call him out. It seems Zellensky should understand if the minerals deal is signed it implies there will be protection for Ukraine.

The bottom line. Without US support Ukraine is toast.

"unfortunate" It was a deliberate abandonment of an ally.

"ungrateful" :headscratch: Evidence?

"implies" The US will get the minerals if Russia occupies, too. Unless there are ironclad security guarantees DonOLD's word is as good as it ever is - garbage.

Ukraine has been counted out before, in 2022 when TRE45QN was calling his idol PUTIN a "genius". We'll see. Ukraine's own weapons industry has become huge, it will now be free to launch many more painful attacks deep within Russia, and Europe can step up its aid and may even put troops into Ukraine. I'm not hopeful, but I'm not as defeatist as useful idiots like you are.

EU/NATO have already come out supporting Ukraine.

They knew but were hoping this wasn't coming.

Hell, I knew it.

I don’t think Zelensky was being disrespectful to the US in any way.

But I’m curious about the end game. What do you think is Zelensky’s scenario for an end to the war? Would he be willing to cede some territory to Russia?
