In most instances, it wouldn't matter since "the movie channel" (lower case) could certainly refer to local channel 2.3. But since you have mentioned your aversion to cable, roku and other streaming, it was an appropriate question to ask "how are you watching "The Movie Channel"? It would have been easy to answer upon the first question, and there wouldn't have been any further discussion or question.
