Veteran Day

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Ingle's, at least the one on Long Shoals, makes it fresh in front of you on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No chemicals, no artificial anything. Excellent!

Where have I ever said or implied that it was?

You might want to lay off the hallucinogens there, "Reality."

rstrong, color it anyway you want but you are as extreme left as it gets. That's okay but color yourself for what you are. Maybe in the world of SGT Yukon and his wonder dog King they would think differently.

I took the political spectrum test posted here a couple weeks ago. I'm just about dead-center on the left-right scale, just half a square left of center. On the authoritarian/libertarian scale I'm deep into the libertarian side.

There's not much difference between libertarian and liberal, so it's understandable if you think I'm liberal.

But we're talking about the word conservative, which is not the opposite of libertarian or liberal. For all your claims that I'm not a conservative, yet again you're still unable to explain why I'm not a conservative.

You have no idea how extreme left it gets.
He has no idea what "left" is let alone "progressive."

Big Ugly will never understand what the left really wants (Vrede is not an "extreme" leftie - if he is, so am I although I don't consider myself such but I can understand an "extreme" righty would think so) or what the progressives really want.

Big Ugly is too busy filling himself with diatribe and vitriol from the extreme right.

I hate to type it, but I will ... MrB actually is the reasonable mind of the right these days on this forum.

Big Ugly, you need to shut off Limbaugh and Faux Noise.
Really, reality will set in, eventually.

By some definitions I might be. I (nonviolent radical) am left of rstrong (liberal-conservative) but am right of commies and not as extreme as the violent and some others.
We are, indeed, similar. I like that as I've always respected you.

And Wneglia and sometimes Leo Lyons, though both MrB. and Wneglia asre far more pleasant than he is.
Of course Wneglia. His reasonableness is a given. Doc is a great guy!

Great video, Mike. Thanks for sharing. Operation Mend is a great program to help these terribly wounded soldiers. As Aaron said in his closing remarks, if you don't serve there (Iraq, Afghanistan), serve them- serve those that do.

What a wonderful message. I am grateful our country better understands what these service people do now. It is a shame how our Vietnam veterans were treated for their service.

what possesses you to interject your hate and bs into everything positive you try to say

then, as now, the vets were treated fine. it was the wrong war and those who promoted it that was protested

the only shame I've seen towards viet nam vets has come from the right against all vets who protested the war

btw - no one has ever been able to find a vet who was spit on by a war protester but plenty of war protesters were spit on by pro-war demonstrators

and btw - the swift boat liars who trashed Kerry have been proven to be nothing but liars - but I'm sure you didn't hear that on faux

and btw - the clip you have seen of Kerry's testimony to Congress has been edited and the context altered in order to make kerry look bad - but I'm sure you didn't hear that on faux - because they did it

Vietnam vets also got a rude welcome from from the pro-war side, who pinned all sorts of vile labels on them for losing the the war. Ignoring the fact that the war was "lost" by Washington. And that while it didn't seem like it at the time, the war (looks innocently around the room) was actually a major victory for the US.

there was then, as there is now, a lot of trash in the military, so I guess there was and is some righeous condemnation toward individules but not toward the military

those 3 scumbags, who followed the 14 year old girl home from a water well in bagdad and raped her and her 9 year old sister in front of her parents before they shot them all, come to mind

as does this piece of filth

interview with Paul Meadlo in which he describes his participation in the massacre:
Q. So you fired something like sixty-seven shots?
A. Right.
Q. And you killed how many? At that time?
A. Well, I fired them automatic, so you can’t- You just spray the area on them and so you can’t know how many you killed ‘cause they were going fast. So I might have killed ten or fifteen of them.
Q. Men, women, and children?
A. Men, women, and children.
Q. And babies?
A. And babies
.

I just gotta keep disagreeing with you on viet nam

it wasn't lost by washington, it was won by a people who had been fighting against all odds, against overwhelming forces of france, japan, france again and the US for 35 years, they would have continued to fight all colonials powers for the next 100 years if that's what it had taken to gain their freedom

we were the bad guys - palin and simple
