He's smart, good looking, does a good job, has a good approval rating, yada. He'd also be the poster child for everything any center-right to right voters are scared shitless of. California/San Francisco, even was related to P-Lo for a while by marriage; anti-gun, pro-abortion, isn't afraid of taxes and still gets a surplus. He'd likely increase the turnout for the moon-barking howlers as much as for Dems.

My money is on Joe not running, but not so early that he's a premature lame duck nor so late that the eventual Dem nominee is hurt by the delay.

My guess is about a year before the election as an election year presidency is pretty much lame duck anyways. The dems will miss out on a couple of months of primary debates, but that could be a positive.

Maybe it's faulty memory but I thought that Bernie2020 was treated pretty fairly, It was Bernie2016 that really got screwed.
I don't necessarily trust Biden to select the best Dem to be given an edge in 2024. So, I'd prefer that he stay presidential and give them all the same notice as to his intentions. That said, I'm okay with him being open and honest about his preference or staying neutral.

Yeah, I know. Hillary was more hated than most knew. Hillary made some serious campaign mistakes. In retrospect, Hillary shouldn't have given Trump "deplorable" bulletin board material. Hillary shouldn't have taken for granted and ignored Rust Belt states. Yada. But she still won the popular vote, and was close enough otherwise for some earlier Bernie support instead of criticism would have helped and likely made a difference. Bernie whining about not being treated fairly did not help.

Ok, so maybe not only Wisconsin, but according to WaPo:
