So a month ago, Trump was the mentally-failing stuttering, slurring, crazy uncle posting gibberish on his unTruth Social. He was seen as old as Biden, somewhat feeble at times and a shadow of his former self. Anybody notice how his posts now are so clear and cleanly written? Anybody believe he actually wrote those? Any public speeches since his self-congratulatory post election one? Where's the doddering old guy? Hard to believe that would have been an intentional act. Hard to believe he's had a swig from the fountain of youth. So the doddering old guy is hanging around at Mara Lago saying "of fuck yeah, let Matt be AG - that'll piss off Biden" and somebody else is running the show.

It's actually mostly the same right-wing yammer they've had for years - anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-poor, anti-regulation, with some specific grievances thrown in (such as they really don't like Fauci). Interestingly, nowhere in it could I find a recommendation to install totally and obviously unqualified people at the Cabinet level.

I'm not saying Trump's not dangerous, nor that he's capable of wreaking havoc, which he's already shown he can do. But I still say the way he gets covered as some complex 4-D Chess playing genius mastermind is waaaay off. Sure, he got elected and he's kept his cult going for four years and now got elected again. But I would argue that he's a figurehead for the disaffected, but is interested primarily in himself and what's good for himself and his "friends" for so long as they remain "friends." Numerous real psychiatrists have opined over the past four years on his narcissism, his mental deterioration, and his "thin skin." Well, that's the same guy that's now President-elect (with no asterisk). He didn't miraculously turn into a "stable genius."

So suppose it's possible that all these crazy nominations are just rewarding the allies and have no more complex reason than that. He can do it not because he wants to accomplish anything, but because he doesn't respect or care for the governmental institutions. We know that's the case with the loony pretend-Kennedy. They made a deal - it was obvious at the time. Apparently was the same with Gaetz - he wasn't on the AG list until he made a last minute pitch and offered to make life miserable for Trump's opponents, legal or not. Trump didn't "mastermind" that nomination - it was just another case of "listening to the last guy." He was close to Noem until she shot her foot along with her dog and he dropped her for the distraction, not because he really cared if she shot her dog. So he gives her a consolation prize.

I think all these unqualified incompetents will make a mess, largely through neglect and conflicting direction, but I certainly don't think they're a well-organized army for governmental revolution.
