DeSantis, Once a Darling of Conservative News Media, Now Rails Against It

As the Iowa caucuses draw near, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has increasingly focused on a peculiar target as he looks to win the Republican nomination: the conservative news media ecosystem that supports former President Donald Trump.

Desperate to make his case that he is a better candidate than Trump — while trailing by wide margins in recent polls — DeSantis seems to have turned on many of the news outlets that once promoted his candidacy, for being unfair in their coverage.

“He’s got basically a Praetorian Guard of the conservative media — Fox News, the websites, all this stuff,” DeSantis told reporters outside his campaign headquarters in Urbandale, Iowa. “They just don’t hold him accountable because they’re worried about losing viewers. And they don’t want to have the ratings go down.”

That's one of the more accurate and honest things I've heard Fascist DerSantis say.

He added: “That’s just the reality. That’s just the truth, and I’m not complaining about it. I’d rather that not be the case. But that’s just, I think, an objective reality.”

That honesty didn't last long. Of course he's complaining

It was the most animated version of a message that DeSantis, despite saying he is not complaining, has delivered repeatedly over the last several days.

As I said.
"Waaa, do as I say, not as I do."

But he and his team have also taken to attacking Fox News, which was glowing in its coverage of DeSantis until it circled the wagons for Trump once the former president was first indicted in March 2023....

Typical, Fascist DerSantis doesn't have the stones to admit that he is more responsible for his campaign's collapse than anyone else. He should just take his participation trophy and guard dog wife and go home.

I'm betting that he does not quit after getting stomped in Iowa. He might quit after Nikki Heat shames him in NH. What are your guesses?

I really think that he’s considering a run for mommy to be governor; after all, term limits, like laws and rules in general, are meant for other people - not republicans.

If so, soon will be the best time to stop losing.

Look for him to say that the campaign is taking away from his duties and responsibilities as governor.

I'm not going to argue whether Trump will be the repug nominee, but it seems to me that his getting about half of 14% of hard-core Iowa repugs and calling it a harbinger of great victories is a lot like polling Green Bay and then proclaiming that the Packers are the most popular team ever, the likes of which nobody has ever seen.

For that matter calling any Iowa result meaningful is sketchy. I'm actually pleased that 49% didn't want ex-PINO. I expected him to get closer to 60%. Anyhow, 2016 showed us that a technical victory can do us more harm than an actual victory.

Haley, DeSantis, and their advisors are either dumber than counting on Lotto for retirement or they're just "running" for their own vanity or future reasons. As noted above, almost half of the hard-core repugs who came out to yammer at each other in 15F weather voted against Trump. A couple of things should be crystal clear to anybody with enough sense to dress themselves:
1. the votes are there to defeat Trump, or at worst to make it a close race
2. if those votes are split, Trump will win

To have any chance, at all, only one person must go forward after New Hampshire. But will they do it? Noooo. They're fools.
