The Food Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Thanks! Added to a years-long email string:
Dear Rep. Chuck McGrady,

Maybe you can tell me again about your "superior legal expertise". That was a good one!

Judge declares much of N.C. ag-gag law unconstitutional

Before you go blaming liberal courts as you have before, U.S. District Court Judge Thomas D. Schroeder is a Dubya appointee.

How many losses is that across the nation now? Maybe it's time that you just admitted that you are so in thrall to animal, child and elder abusing businesses that you'll shred the Constitution and will burn who-knows-how-much of our money towards that end.

From: Rep. Chuck McGrady

Chuck: Federal judges are not infallible, I simply disagree with his conclusions, and we’ll see where this ends up. Glad I’ve got very little time to get these types of missives from you—6 months and 14 days to be exact.
Oooh, snippy.
How many Appeals Courts have ruled against the several federal judges that agree with U.S. District Court Judge Thomas D. Schroeder?

Maybe you should just stop wasting our money.

Don't know if I've said this before, but I used to know Chuck and his wife personally, back when he was primarily a camp owner and an environmental activist (back in the days of yore, when it was very unusual but not impossible for a Republican to be such a thing). He's gone farther and farther right as he's aged.

Turned into a grumpy old man, but he's in a mostly thankless job.

I used to like him, too. He got seduced by being Repug leadership in what was Repug govt.

McDonald’s customer calls out chain over inedible item: 'Why would [they] even serve it?'

...

(very short video worth watching)

... “Looks like they accidentally put cement in it instead of flour,” one person joked.

“That’s a weapon at this point,” another user said.

“That’s not a muffin that’s a rock,” a third person added....

Fort Stevens State Park in Oregon has a bunch of mushrooms. So many of so many different types that they give you a brochure to use in selecting them, and have no limit on personal use. Take a look at the size of that Prince mushroom. Yeah, that's a ball cap beside it.

Wow, candy corn pizza! When I was a kid, I would eat candy corn like nobody's business. Yum!

Blasphemy! Abomination! Candy corn must be nibbled one color at a time.

Kids never come by my place on Halloween, but I buy a bag of candy just in case. This year, I don’t want them to be out because of the pandemic and maybe they won’t be. I’m still trying to work up an excuse for buying the candy, anyhow.

Got it. I can leave a bucket of candy inside the entryway door. If my doorbell gets rung I can go out on the patio to see the costumes, then tell the kids to open the outer door.

Smart.
The cars look smaller (possible renovation) than the one I rode, but we rode a huge ferris wheel in Budapest. I believe it had been built for a World's Fair.

Efit:
Maybe it wasn't Budapest. Looking at European Farris wheels - it looks like the one in Vienna was the one I was on.

Why you might have Mexican, Thai, Southwest, Italian, and other locale restaurants in your town but are unlikely to have a Utahn restaurant:
