Well that's tangentially usless trivia in a Covidiot thread.

Yes, but it wasn't the first post in this thread about Filipino dictators.
Not sorry.

Re: COVIDiots
But the original post was Covidiot related, hence the words tangentially useless trivia.

Re: COVIDiots
As GoCubsGo says, the posts about Duterte were specific to his CV-19 policies and opinions. Your post about Marcos displayed your usual 'Look at me' attention span of a 3 year old.

Re: COVIDiots
I see.
Just what is the difference between useless trivia, and tangentially useless trivia, anyway? Is there such a thing as directly useless trivia?
Not that I really care, directly or tangentially.

tangentially
[ tan-jen-shuh-lee ]
adverb
in a way that barely touches or involves someone or something:
The subject’s tempestuous first marriage is only tangentially dealt with in the biography.
in a way that is only slightly related or relevant:
The novel dedicates a huge amount of space to characters and events that are, at most, tangentially connected to the main plot.

Re: COVIDiots
Directly useless trivia would be something pertaining to the topic at hand, but of no importance or interest. For example, in a thread on COVIDiots, it might be mentioned that the term "COVID" (sometimes "covid") is derived as an acronym, but not all letters begin words. The term stands for "Corona Virus Disease" which should properly be shown as "CoViD". There - a good example of direct and pertinent useless trivia.

Re: COVIDiots
To further the basic English lesson that you're getting from GoCubsGo and O Really, if you had posted about CA or FL animals that look like dicks that would have been useless trivia. However, since there had already been mention of a modern Filipino dictator your post about a Filipino dictator that died long before CV-19 came around was "tangentially useless trivia".

Wussy response when a "Thank you" is called for. Ummm, YOU asked, and I don't think any of us were English majors. We did make it through middle school, though.

And I plan to get after it again later on today. I've found that when one is stoned, the things that are funny, pathetic, curious, notorious, or remarkable in some small way become more so relative to how they look when sober. Useless' Filipino dictator idiocy;
Useless' illiteracy as shown by his struggles with "tangentially useless trivia";
Useless' immature snit when GoCubsGo and O Really try to help him with his illiteracy;
Useless' ongoing struggle with the concept of 'ignore'.
Useless only wishes that he could attribute all of this humiliation to being super stoned.

Yeah, if he were super stoned, his confusion could be attributed to that. But since he's a self confessed non stoner he has no fucking excuse. It's a notorious lapse of logical progression and is akin to a missing domino in a field of thousands....all of a sudden the action stops.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 7:55 amneoplacebo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 6:41 amVrede too wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 8:42 pmSuper-stoned neoplacebo is still well more than a match for your "wits" any day of the week and twice on Saturday, not that it's saying much.There you go again, too stupid to know that just responding to the notifications is a victory for me. I meant hypothetically, not at any particular time and place, which would be illegal. For proof of this one need look no further than:
Useless' Filipino dictator idiocy;
Useless' illiteracy as shown by his struggles with "tangentially useless trivia";
Useless' immature snit when GoCubsGo and O Really try to help him with his illiteracy;
Useless' ongoing struggle with the concept of 'ignore'.

Re: COVIDiots

I hope that 75 year old Dolly rips Powell a new one, but maybe that's not her style.Vaccination
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Parton donated $1 million towards research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and encouraged those who can afford it to make similar donations. She said "I'm a very proud girl today to know I had anything at all to do with something that's going to help us through this crazy pandemic". In March 2021, Parton was vaccinated against COVID-19 at Vanderbilt University. She labeled social media accounts of the occasion "Dolly gets a dose of her own medicine." Parton strongly encouraged everyone to get vaccinated when eligible and performed a song celebrating her vaccination, set to the tune of her song "Jolene". The song included the lines "Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine/I'm begging of you please don't hesitate/Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine/'Cos once you're dead, then that's a bit too late."
Response tweets:
...Quite the diverse group there
Bless their soon to fail hearts.
This is the whitest thing you will see all week
This is so white it’s actually blinding.
That’s a lovely set of lungs you have there. -coronavirusI'd hate to see anything happen to them.

Re: COVIDiots
You would know better than me, but since it's parody of a song that Dolly had already parodied I would have thought that Powell is legally protected. Otoh, I suspect that some of even that crowd might think different of Powell if the iconic Dolly called her a murderous song-stealing atonal wingnut bitch.

Re: COVIDiots
I tend to doubt that Parton would want to pursue a case against the mostly white Powell/Trump cabal for stealing her tune without permission. Especially since it was such a bad version. And it could pass as a parody piece, which I gather could skirt illegality.
