Race, lets make this serious! It is nearly 2013.

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Why not insult two races in one tweet?

Latest Trump Tweet:
I will Veto the Defense Authorization Bill if the Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren (of all people!) Amendment, which will lead to the renaming (plus other bad things!) of Fort Bragg, Fort Robert E. Lee, and many other Military Bases from which we won Two World Wars, is in the Bill!

 I wonder which fort he criminally cowered from in the 1960s?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Warren is calling for the bases to be razed and the earth underneath salted. She's just asking for them to be renamed, meaning they're still the same bases "from which we won Two World Wars". They'll just have a different name.
I did not know we had a Fort Lee. That's disgusting.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Lee_(Virginia)

We have ten bases named after Confederate soldiers.

Renaming is overdue.

OK, so this is fun. NJ has a "Fort Lee" too. How many (other than whack9 and I) know that it's named for Revolutionary War General Charles Lee way back before Confederate General Lee was born? I'll bet somebody will want to include it in the renaming trend.

When people change their last names when getting married, they cease to exist.

Wait. So if someone commits a crime, like bank robbery or car theft, all they need to do is change their name and they can no longer go to jail since they no longer exist, right? Can't take a person to court if they don't exist.

Checkmate.

at 19 (hair down to waist in Alabama) I got a speeding ticket on my bicycle. the arresting officer (or whatever) wrote the correct day but the wrong date on the ticket. I showed up in court with a calendar to support that the day/date did not exist. the judge asked if I had the money to pay the fine, I did not and I was taken to a cell

Wouldn't you think that with all the silly technicalities that let trump types go free of their crimes, that my speeding on a bicycle on a day that didn't exist on any calendar should have set me free
Oh well

Ouch.

I represented myself here over a speeding ticket, even got to say and succeed with, "Objection, your honor," when the trooper tried to bring up an unrelated warning he gave me for speeding a month later. I got off because he wrote the wrong road on the ticket and never corrected it. Of course, I'm old, bald/grey and worked at the local hospital.

PINO maaay be charged on 1/21/21. However, it won't surprise me if it's all dropped 'in the interest of the moving on', like Obama did with Cheney/Shrub's war crimes.

After watching the Black Lives Matter protests on TV, 8-year-old Clare Gotcher wanted to do her part to help. Clare turned her bracelet-making hobby into an opportunity to raise money for the local Black Lives Matter chapter and has raised nearly $500.

I'm hoping he'll be charged and convicted of something, even if it's just an Al Caponeish type of thing. If convicted of any sort of felony he is then ineligible to run for federal office (he will certainly make noises about running again) and a little closer to fading into obscurity.

I'd love it if they threw the book at him. Lock him up for the rest of his life! Even more than things like treason, I'd like to see him convicted of campaign finance felonies including the hush money payments, regardless of sentence. Let history record that his entire presidency* was illegitimate.

The whole con outrage about changing military base names shows their own ignorance about military matters and history. There were no "bases that won two World Wars" like trumpoon squawked. The winners of two world wars were the units themselves....like the 101st or the 82nd or any number of airborne, armor, or artillery divisions that just happened to be "based" at certain locations. Hell, if they changed the names of Army forts from CSA notables to something like Fort Fat City or Fort Flippy Floppy or Fort Check This Out, none of that would detract from the glory or legacy of the individual military units themselves. Besides, businesses like Flippy Floppy Burgers and Fat City Dodge would spring up in the immediate area.

Defying Trump, Republican-led Senate panel backs stripping Confederate names from military bases

... Republican Senator Roy Blunt, who represents Missouri, which was in the Confederacy, said he had no problem changing the bases' names.

"If you want to continue to name forts after soldiers, there have been a lot of great soldiers who have come along since the Civil War," Blunt told reporters.

He noted that Braxton Bragg, who is honored at the sprawling base in North Carolina, was "probably the worst commanding general in the entire Confederate Army. He's an interesting guy to name a fort after."

Bragg was relieved of his command after losing a major battle in 1863....

GOP Senators Propose Scrapping Columbus Day, Adding Juneteenth Federal Holiday

Image

Republican senators Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) and James Lankford (R., Okla.) introduced an amendment Wednesday that would replace Columbus Day with Juneteenth as a federal holiday.

The proposal, which follows last week’s introduction of a bipartisan Senate bill by Senator John Cornyn (R., Texas) that would establish Juneteenth as a federal holiday, is aimed in large part at offsetting the cost associated with Cornyn’s plan. Each new federal holiday costs an estimated $600 million in paid time off for government employees, according to a Fox News report.

“Throughout our history, we have strived to become a more perfect union and Juneteenth was a huge step in attaining that goal,” Lankford said in a statement. “We should celebrate these strides on the federal level while remaining cognizant of the impact the existing 10 federal holidays have on federal services and local businesses.”

“We support celebrating emancipation with a federal holiday, but believe we should eliminate a current holiday in exchange,” Johnson said in a statement. “We chose Columbus Day as a holiday that is lightly celebrated, and least disruptive to Americans’ schedules.” ...
