Re: The Music Thread
Idk, but the comments are fun.
The only similarity here is that Angus Young and Bach were both in Leipzig at some point in their lives. Playing the same three-note riff 10 times, followed by a call/response of (quack)/hey!, (quack)/hey!, (quack)/hey!, has absolutely nothing to do with, say improvising a six-voice fugue, which most classically-trained musicians can't even play. Let Angus be what he was: loud and rebellious. I'm going to now rinse my ears with, "It's a Long Way to the Top."
Angus did a brilliant impersonation of the famous Leipzig night when Bach came home totally pissed, stepped on his cat and stumbled over his harpsichord dragging his porcelain mini elephant collection with him.
Yes. I remember it well from Bach's classic Toccata & Fuge: The Rock Years!!!
Bach: “Finally someone gets it! That’s what I meant all along!”
I feel like I just got stood up by a supermodel!

Not Our First Goat Rodeo
https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/08/18/ ... blues-fest
COVID or not, it’s a really packed weekend for live music and theater events in the Bay Area. Here is a rundown.
"The Goat Rodeo returns
It was a decade ago that some of the world’s most talented musicians — cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, bassist Edgar Meyer and fiddler Stuart Duncan — assembled for a musical collaboration most felt had every chance in the world of crashing and burning. Hence the name: “The Goat Rodeo Sessions” borrows from a phrase that refers to a project where everything has to go right to avoid failure."
Ulysses, you could go. I wish I could.
"7:30 p.m. Friday at Frost Amphitheatre, Stanford University, only lawn seats are still available, $35; proof of vaccination or negative COVID test with 72 hours of show time is required (those under 12 must be masked); live.stanford.edu.; 8 p.m. Saturday at Greek Theatre, UC Berkeley; $50-$250; proof of vaccination or negative COVID test with 48 hours of show time is required (those under 12 must be masked); calperformances.org."

Re: The Music Thread
Billy,
Thanks for the alert. However I'm still a bit covid-shy, plus parking at the Greek can be horrendous, like a 10 block walk. But it sounds like a good show, I like YoYo and I used to play Irish music, even though I don't care much for goats.
Let me know if you see another good show in this area.

Re: The Music Thread
Well, maybe I'm wrong. I thought I saw a headline that the guy died. Guess I am mistaken since I can't find it now. And I'm not even high. Maybe that was what's wrong. I can fix it.Vrede too wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 8:07 amQuick search, I'm not finding anything about that.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 7:58 amI saw a story this morning that said this guy (the baby) has died.

A showcase of three incredible talents - David Gilmour, Kate Bush, and that other guy's hairdresser.

Re: The Music Thread
It was, wasn't it? I wasn't part of Elvis mania - early Elvis was a bit before my time and late (fat) Elvis was a bit of a caricature as well as being over-run by the British Invasion, so I didn't develop an appreciation for his music until later. But I like the track here - pretty much timeless. Who would have thought that a song from 1957 would be such a good background for a bunch of electro dancers?
