Re: America's Got Talent
I enjoyed the cellists as well. They were one of the better acts of the evening.
I also enjoyed 11 year old Mara Justine. My only criticism of AGT, is that in the short video bio they leave out an important piece of the story, i.e. that she has been studying for 3 years with vocal coach,Sal Dupree. Nonetheless, she has a powerful voice with a broadway quality to it, and regardless of how she does in AGT, I predict she will have a great singing career if she sticks to it.

They played Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze". I can't find a decent YT upload yet but you can watch here: http://www.nbc.com/americas-got-talent/ ... /2792969#i
Grandpa cellist is in the wings and the judge's comments ("air cello") are pretty cool. They have a YT channel with more: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheLiakhovetskiBros/videos
Iron Maiden's Trooper - Bluegrass cover.
You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.

Re: America's Got Talent
I haven't watched much this season. I know I don't want a magician or comic and The Professional Regurgitator is too weird for me, though good at what he does.
I do like The CraigLewis Band. We'll see.

The CraigLewis Band took 5th, The Professional Regurgitator took 3rd, and Paul Zerdin won. Good to see Terry Fator again.

She definitely is very talented and will likely get to the finals if she continues to wow the judges and audience like she did last nightVrede too wrote:Not my style of music, but wow! Skip to 1:45 to see the performance.

Anyone else you liked? I didn't watch it all. "Tape Face" was entertaining, though he probably won't get far.

Hara was good with an original visual magic/tech sort of routine:
And of course there was the usual gaggle of dumb and bizarre acts:

Re: America's Got Talent
That one was too gross for me.
I watched the video of Hara earlier today, maybe it looked better in person. To me, it looked like a little magic and mostly just movement in sync with a pre-made projection. The audience and judges seemed impressed, though.

Tape-Face was entertaining, but this one is downright . . . well, you decide.

Finland must be a great place to bar stumble

Sure you have seen this oldie, but I haven't watched the got talent show, but fear I won't be able to say that for long. I learned during a AGT commercial that since 1 of the singing shows had folded, it would be replaced with AGT.

Makes sense. Certainly a trick, but still well pulled off. The message sending was fast and then accurately related out loud.
Why didn't she know whether Heidi had her handbag with her?
Unless they diversify, they won't go too far. Almost everyone knows there's some gimmick, whether or not they see your spoiler.
Can one find video exposure for all magic tricks these days? If so, in a way that's too bad, though it wouldn't stop me from looking if I was curious.

Re: America's Got Talent
Many magician's are unfortunately exposed on the internet. Having been involved with magic as a hobby and used with children in my my oncology practice, I can appreciate the frustration that magicians feel when their trade is exposed. Even though a secret may be known, the performance requires significant skill. I was fortunate enough to go to the Magic Castle in LA 2 weeks ago as a guest of a magician I knew, and was awed by the talent displayed there. Unfortunately, arthritis and lack of practice have diminished my former skills, but I may try to relearn some of the routines many thought were amazing.Vrede too wrote:Makes sense. BTW as I write this I am watching Mohammed Ali on 60 minutes demonstrating a hidden silk in a thumb tip to Fidel Castro.

Ouch, the Christian music industry and its fans got burned. All 4 judges voted them through.
This was thrilling:
All 4 judges also voted him through. Be interesting to see how he changes it up through several (?) performances.
