Terrorism

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Terrorism

Unread post by billy.pilgrim »

The federal definition of terrorism requires that there be some sort of political motive.

That fits the PP attack.

the attack yesterday was different, but still was terrorism because the assholes were terrorists in every sense of the word weather or not the actual attack was political.

They were working with other ME men late at night in the garage for months;
likely building bombs
likely planning a bigger target with the other men, but something happened at the party that triggered this premature attack.

If it was some accidental offensive remark or some racist picking on the Muslim we may never know, but whatever happened may have derailed a much more devestating event, thanks to an accidental hero for pissing off this terrorist.

Or was he "just joking" this time too?

Fox and frienemies this a.m. determined that there is no such thing as a lone wolf. Since individuals are radicalized by the internet, they are not alone.

I yelled at the tv and demanded that they explain dylan roof and the drew guy that they said were loners, but they remained silent

You know the explanation- they are white and, presumably, non-moozlum.
People are crazy and times are strange. I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range.
I used to care, but, things have changed.

You actually find that image offensive and stupid? Or are you just being your regular asshole self?

Ummm, it was a clock and Obama has never called an IED a clock. So yes, stupid. Own it.

Exploiting a tragedy with stupid partisanship is offensive. Own it.

 Once again, fundamentally dishonest Seth Milner tries and fails at making a point by deceptively editing out part of my post. What a wuss! Restored now.

Point deleted and run away from, as usual.

Translation: Waaa, Libby does it, too, that excuses me, waaa.

Ummm, no one here has ever denied that Muslim terrorism was possible or even likely, though the odds of white, often Christian, con terrorism are much greater. Your desperate straw men when childishly deflecting from your offensive stupidity are pathetic.

So who wants to argue that mass killings - for whatever reason - are not political events, or that they should not be addressed through political means?
The fact that there are individual tragedies involved doesn't make the event - or society's response - any less political.

True, such events can, should and do spark legit political debate on a range of issues - attitudes towards Muslims, surveillance, American culture, gun policy, etc., but there's no place in adult conversation for Seth Milner's dishonest ODS stupidity.

Reagan killing children is your example?
1983 Beirut barracks bombing

... the death toll was 241 American servicemen: 220 Marines, 18 sailors, and three soldiers, making this incident the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States Marine Corps since World War II's Battle of Iwo Jima, the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States military since the first day of the Vietnam War's Tet Offensive, and the deadliest single attack on Americans overseas since World War II. Another 128 Americans were wounded in the blast. Thirteen later died of their injuries, and they are numbered among the total number who died....
There was never any retaliation and he quickly turned tail and pulled out of Lebanon, which was correct since he was an idiot to put the troops in harm's way in the first place.

Opps, try again.
