If they force someone through before the election, or during the lame duck session if trump loses, then screw it. Pack the courts and do what you gotta do.

Mitch McConnel in February 2016 (8 months before the election!) upon hearing of Justice Scalias death:
“The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president

The Democrats should do just what Bitch McConnell did a few years ago and refuse to confirm ANY replacement from trump. Let's see if McConnell's logic from a few years ago works both ways......it was more than a year before the end of Obama's term when Mitch tossed his grenade; it's less than six months before the presidential inauguration. My bet is that GOP hypocrisy will hold true.

I flipped over to fox for 11 seconds and heard a lady explain that it was necessary to wait for after the election if the Senate and president were of different parties because - something about the will of the people being more recently expressed in the more recent midterms; therefore, the president of the opposite party appointing a justice would be an attack on democracy and the American people.

From what I've been reading -

1) Murkowski - Stated she's against SC justice confirmation till after the election.
2) AZ Senate Special election - Possibility the Democratic candidate Mark Kelly will win. Since it's a special election he gets appointed immediately.
3) Romney?
4) Susan Collins said she's against lame duck SC appointments.

But these are Republicans. Their word carries no weight.

Aren't 2 of those the ones who are always going to do the right thing but never do?

It was 60 because that required a reasonable nominee. mitch changed the rules so they could install super partisan judges easily and quickly.

Sadly, it was Harry Reid who went nuclear on judicial appointments. This is the price paid and the lesson learned.

In November 2013, Senate Democrats led by Harry Reid used the nuclear option to eliminate the 60-vote rule on executive branch nominations and federal judicial appointments, but not for the Supreme Court.[1] In April 2017, Senate Republicans led by Mitch McConnell extended the nuclear option to Supreme Court nominations in order to end debate on the nomination of Neil Gorsuch.[2][3][4]
