San Francisco Bay Area dethroned as most unaffordable housing market in America, report says

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Awww. :violin: , Useless. So much for "Ignored". You fail again. Plus, Useless, you've been busted too many times for anyone to believe you're not reading my posts, anyhow. It's just your excuse for cowering. Awww.

2400 Fulton Street is the house Jefferson Airplane bought in 1966. I have this record and if I remember right, the band paid $60,000 for the place. It's right across the street, or was, from Golden Gate Park. If it still exists it's probably worth millions now.

Hey, Ardmore may not be quite up to San Diego standards, but there's a lot of fun things to do there. They've got a movie theatre, bowling alley, drag strip, raceway and lots more. Even an art gallery.

Yes, 2400 Fulton is a grand house, much larger than most other homes in the City.

I grew up in SF, usually about 10 blocks away on the other side of GG Park.

The 5 Fulton electric trolley bus runs in front of this place; you can sort of see the double power lines that provide the energy it uses.

The house:

The type of trolley bus that ran in front of it back then. I remember these things well. The wires would sing a bit as they went by. Memories!

Note: I remember riding one of those trolley buses for three years to my junior high school, which was over some hills. Inevitably one of the power connectors would disconnect going around a turn. The driver would stop the trolley bus, get off, pull on a guy wire connected to the connector rod, reposition it back onto the overhead power line, and we'd be off. Usually the driver knew this would happen and would get up enough speed to be able to coast through the intersection/turn to be able to reconnect without losing power again.

For at least two years we lived on a hill along one of these trolley bus lines. I remember being entranced by the singing of the wires. Memories.

Oh, and it's my understanding that the entire electrified Muni system in SF is powered by electricity generated at the Hetch Hetchy dam on the Tuolumne River just outside Yosemite National Park. That was built soon after the 1906 earthquake, with the nation making it easier for SF to get power, probably in sympathy for the City after the devastating quake. I doubt such a dam and power station so close to a national park would pass muster today.

 I picked Ardmore because a couple of years ago I established contact with a guy I was in the navy with who now lives in Ardmore. I later found out he's a trumper so I just figured that whole Ardmore scene is just a little piece of hell for those who like such things. The fact that the guy who tried to kill Reagan was born there is a bonus.

Yeah, Carter County, Oklahoma voted about 3 to 1 for Dolt .45 both times, despite registrations being roughly equal between RepuQs and Dems :headscratch: .

Ardmore is about as White and poor as the rest of Oklahoma, but it's a bit Blacker.

Still, I might prefer small town OK to heavily militarized massive city CA. Moot point, anyhow, as a retiree there is no way I could afford SD.
