A 50-foot racing catamaran flipped onto its side in the San Francisco Bay while training for the upcoming SailGP race this weekend.
US SailGP's high-performance F50 vessel — valued at around $7 million with a top speed of around 60 mph — overturned during a practice run near Alcatraz Monday. Big wave surfing legend Kai Lenny was onboard during the incident. "We're going so fast. It's crazy. It flies," Lenny said in a video shared on Twitter, "That was a crazy experience." Team CEO Jimmy Spithill initiated the maneuver that resulted in the crash, which was reportedly due to a problem with the wing sail.
Awww. , Useless. So much for "Ignored". You fail again. Plus, Useless, you've been busted too many times for anyone to believe you're not reading my posts, anyhow. It's just your excuse for cowering. Awww.
I've crewed on a smaller (<30 ft) racing catamaran, in the bay. Fortunately it never flipped, but we all wore life jackets anyway. Most of my sail racing experience was on more traditional single-hull designs. I remember one ocean race where we passed a small catamaran. The crew was drinking beer. A big storm hit the coast during the race, and as I recall, that cat went missing with all on board. It was even touch and go on the 44 foot single hull I was on.

Those were the days.
Dreams of bygone days that never were.
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”
Occasionally we'd see big cats on the bay or along the coast. The damn things appear to be unwieldly at best. Look at the sail wrong and the thing tips over. Sometimes a crew can right a tipped cat by hanging on the high side of the deck. I don't know if that would work on a 50 footer like the one in the OP. A famous sailor died in a cat race on the bay some years back...

More bullshit. The only unwieldy cats in your world are the ones you've stretched, starched, electrocuted, and stomped. And don't even presume to assume you're qualified to discuss "the high side." Hell, the only thing in your post that is even remotely correct is where you typed "I don't know."
Useful neotip: if you can't get it right put a cork in it tight

Poor Neopablum. When I write cats in this context, it's an abbreviation of "catamaran". You know, the fastest sailboats yet in existence. Not the felines with which you are so evidently and shamelessly entranced.
