What the hell is wrong with this guy?

"Florida is yanking $2 billion worth of state assets managed by BlackRock, escalating the GOP standoff with the world’s largest money manager over its ESG investment policies.

The state treasury will freeze about $1.43 billion worth of long-term securities and remove BlackRock as the manager of about $600 million worth of short-term overnight investments with the goal of giving that business to other money managers by the beginning of 2023, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis said in a statement Thursday."

The normal process of selecting managers for a fund of that size usually requires a comprehensive Request for Proposals (RFP), a selection group, presentations, review, follow-up interviews, yada. Most places that want to change their manager in 2023 would have started back toward the first of 2022. But sure, let's just change to somewhere else on a whim. Ron's cousin probably does money management on the side.

Will the republican legislature change the law for Ron?

"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis may need some help from the state legislature if he proceeds with a highly anticipated bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

A "resign to run" law requires state officeholders to commit to leave their positions if they run for federal office.

The law currently says that "any officer who qualifies for federal public office must resign from the office he or she presently holds if the terms, or any part thereof, run concurrently with each other."'

This is what dictators do, manipulating the law so that they can stay in power. No surprise to see it in DerSantis.

This PoS needs to be in the rear view mirror.

"A federal judge has just halted a key piece of his touted “Stop-WOKE” Act, which would have blocked state officials from enforcing policies restricting how lessons on race and gender can be taught in Florida colleges and universities."

"The 138-page order from Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker is being heralded as a major win for campus free speech by the groups who challenged the state. Among other provisions of DeSantis’ anti-woke law were rules about what university professors could – and could not – say in the classroom. As the judge noted in his opinion, the law gave the state “unfettered authority to muzzle its professors in the name of ‘freedom.'”

legislators passed DeSantis’ “Individual Freedom Act” earlier this year, which prohibits schools from leveling guilt or blame on students based on race or sex, takes aim at lessons over issues like “white privilege” by creating new protections for students and workers, including that a person should not be instructed to “feel guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress” due to their race, color, sex or national origin."

"Walker writes. “Defendants argue that, under this Act, professors enjoy ‘academic freedom’ so long as they express only those viewpoints of which the State approves. This is positively dystopian.”

"The law so blatantly violates the concept of free speech that one wonders if remedial constitutional education should be a requirement for Florida officeholders."

Yes, but ...
"More than half of voters (54%) approve of the job Ron DeSantis is doing as Governor, with 88% of Republicans and 52% of NPAs approving of his job as Governor. The Governor has an overwhelming approval amongst Hispanic voters with 65% approving of his performance and only 32% disapproving."

Yep, the military gets a free college tuition and what a useful tool giving bs out certifications to military so they can teach in our once public schools. (Don't forget about hiring preferences)

There have been many temporary giveaways. There was one a couple of years ago with no down-payment required for military moving to Florida.

Maybe DeSantis and Septimius Severus are related in more than deed.

And DeSantis pushed early on to promote distribution of the vaccine, especially to senior citizens in the state and he even got into dust-ups with the media over the rollout."

"Jared Smith, the Hillsborough circuit judge whom voters ousted in August after his controversial ruling in an abortion case, won’t have to hang up his judicial robe after all.

Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Smith to fill one of the three vacancies Tuesday on the newly created 6th District Court of Appeal,"

"He’d concluded that the girl did not demonstrate the maturity, intelligence and other qualities necessary to make the decision. In a 2-1 ruling, a three-judge panel found that Smith abused his judicial discretion."

A real guy's kinda evangelical white guy.

"TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis has signaled that he will make a priority of passing a long-debated proposal that would prevent teachers from having union dues deducted from their paychecks.

DeSantis supported the proposal Monday during a speech in Orlando, describing it as “paycheck protection legislation.”'
