GOP -- Scientifically Illiterate and Proud of It

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

GOP -- Scientifically Illiterate and Proud of It

Unread post by Stinger »

Scientific illiterate and Chief Dumbass, Representative Lamar Smith (R-TN), has introduced a bill that requires the scientific findings of all federally sponsored research (most research in the U.S.) be approved by Senate and House committees.

If the scientific findings don't agree with the political beliefs of the committees, then the research is taken by Congress and disposed of as Congress sees fit.

This from the same body that puts Michelle Bachmann on the "Intelligence" committee. Gives you an idea of what kind of loons could be on the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology of the House of Representatives.

We know exactly what they would have done with the research that showed smoking causes cancer.

Dumbasses.

I don't know.... Yawn over at CPF just had a breakthrough, he now believes oil is created naturally. Imagine that!?!?!
You're right. Fewer and fewer people believe that oil and gas and coal are the byproduct of compressed dinosaurs, but that the earth produces this stuff from naturally occurring carbon and intense heat and pressure deep under the surface of the earth. Many believe it is going on today

At least he thinks that it's natural.... and for a Conservative, that's a huge step! :D

Algae soup ... or something like that. I guess it's the term "fossil fuels" that throws them off.

I'm kind of proud that one of them figured out that you couldn't just pile up that many dead dinosaurs at one time to create trillions upon trillions of bushels of coal, barrels of oil, etc.

Now if we can just figure out which dumbasses thing it's an ongoing process, that would be a hoot.

If we can harness the BS and methane that flow from Fox, Rush, Glenn, Michael, Alex, et al., we'll be a net exporter of energy.

Actually, that's a prime example of what the GOP is saying -- our uneducated, scientifically illiterate, dumbass knee-jerk conjecture is just as valid as real science. QED.

Well technically isn't it an ongoing process? Albeit a very very slow one? I know they are insinuating that it's a process that is replacing it as fast as we're burning it up.

I wonder if they even realize how many countries are past peak oil. I hate to imagine the future if they are allowed total control of future planning for the eventual depletion of our resources.

My fault. I should have said "ongoing process that amounts to a hill of beans," or "ongoing process that has any sort of measurable impact." In another million years or so, we'll have enough for another fifty years.

I Googled it to see who's spreading the news. Jeff Rense came in number one.

Who would need all of them? We've got Washington.
