Guns, race, religion, terror, wingnut thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Stopped by an armed off-duty firefighter. Thank you, Sir.

Didn't watch the evening news, don't know if it made National, thanks for sharing.

He was stopped after he left. I agree, good on the firefighter.

Unlike cops, firefighters aren't trained to kill people for little or no reason.

Yes, billy, it's good that a armed off duty firefighter stopped him from having the opportunity to return.

Dude was lucky he was "stopped" by that particular firefighter. Good chance some other "good guy" with a gun would have just fired away. Sadly, wearing that gear, carrying that weapon, and looking suspicious might have been legal there. When it's legal to walk around looking like a terrorist, robber, vigilante, whatever, and it's legal (and encouraged) for untrained civilians who are already pretty much by definition paranoid, to carry firearms so as to "defend themselves" you've got a guarantee of a mess. The gun ummm, "enthusiast" says "I have a right to pack a .45 for protection. I'm going to protect myself and my family." And then he says, "Look at these shooters, attacking a "gun-free zone." Well by golly, if there were more people with guns, those shooters would go down quick." And then he says, "Nobody is going to shoot up a bunch of people if I'm there." And then he's shopping in Walmart and says, "Look Ethyl - there's a guy wearing camo and walking around with a gun. Looks like he's looking for something to shoot."

"Protect" your family, Bubba - shoot the sumbitch before he's the next mass shooter!

Ah, yes, the gun nut zone, where logic is an enemy. Perhaps if we all get ourselves a pistol and always carry it with us and always have it in one hand pointing it at the side of our heads, nobody will fuck with us.

Vrede's comment was interesting.

The guy may not have done anything illegal

And the firefighter could possibly be charged with kidnapping.

Open carry?

I think it's 45 of the 50 states that are open carry, MO is one of them.

IF the idiot did not specifically threaten people, would it be any different if some other armed citizen noticed that the firefighter was armed and detained him?

Clearly, we need new law and vigorous enforcement.

Vrede and O Really both point out the absurdity of what is technically legal in many states. My post about us all holding a gun to our head is the logical ultimate extension of this obsession to the point of lunacy with guns and any laws that adversely affect the "enthusiasts."

Lot of silly scenarios there, but the one that actually happened is the only one that matters.
Good luck on your next visit to Wal Mart.

Why is one firefighter's CC (I assume) gun "better" than another man's open carry absent any laws to restrict either? Where is the line between a good and a bad open carrier? Should we all become cammo fashion police?

Well, we know what happened to one guy recently who had an unloaded air rifle, plain clothes, talking on his phone, dropped his rifle when told, and then got shot. Oh yeah, he was a black guy.

MO is an open carry state and Walmart doesn't ban guns. Sounds like some supposed cop is making up his own situational law rather than having the stones to admit that extant law needs to be changed. Must have "learned" the law from Chuck Norris movies, lol.

Cat's just a pig who twists law to fit his racism.
In this case, the idiocy of open carry must have hurt his feelings.
