I sure hope Auburn wasn't involved and that everyone, including Auburn if involved, who was goes down.
It's getting as bad as politics.

North Carolina State
Maryland
Arizona
Auburn
Louisville
LSU
USC
Likely coincidental, but it’s interesting that schools mentioned in this article are from all of the Power 5 plus the Big East’s Creighton.
Note: This is not to say that other schools, Clemson, OR and WA for example

Aside: Are they still called the Power 5 in basketball, or is that exclusively football? Ah, never mind, it is just football, and it's only been around since 2006.
Power Five conferences
Still, remarkable distribution in the 9 named schools.

Obviously Auburn was involved, I meant, hopefully there is nothing else. I think that we were more than adequately punished for what was done.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 10:53 amKansasbilly.pilgrim wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 9:10 amhttps://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabk ... ar-AAHBo7P

Note: This is not to say that other schools, Clemson, OR and WA for example, are more ethical. They're just too sucky in basketball to attract this level of corruption.

wasn't Clemson caught for some basketball infraction recently? and wasn't the football program mentioned.

Sounds like something new. They really could have linked the ESPN article.... ESPN recently reported that NCAA investigators were also working on cases at Arizona, Auburn, Creighton, Louisville, LSU and USC.
Maybe. It's funny when a team cheats and still just goes to the NIT.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:41 pmwasn't Clemson caught for some basketball infraction recently?
Rings a bell. Someone was testifying or whatever and said something like, "Clemson football is cheating big time by _____." It was denied, don't know if anything came of it.

When the teams aren't playing in arenas named Capital One, Carrier Dome, KFC Yum! Center, PNC Arena, FedEx Forum, etc., I'll try to worry about whether some kid's family gets a few extra thou to help ummm, "guide" the kid to the right school and shoe.

You can make a strong case for that, but the rules need to be the same for all.

I agree that things suck, but the fix is too complicated with too many consequences for me to have an opinion on. You have lots of company:
Poll: 60 percent of adults think college athletes should profit from name, image and likeness

Will be interesting to see how that shakes out. In a world where the big 4 CA schools get away with it, they'd have a huge recruiting edge. Then, there are a bunch of significant CA FCS schools.

I'm sure a lot of lawyers will be able to buy new boats, fast cars, and beach houses off of it before the dust settles. NCAA won't just tuck tail and leave. I'm guessing they'll threaten to toss California schools out, or not recognize their wins, or keep them out of tournaments, etc.

There's a good reason for the intention of the rule. Technically Coach K did violate the law, but not the intent of the law. He was right to report the violation and hopefully everyone will move on without further penaltyO Really wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2019 1:58 pmIn yet another example of NCAA rule-makers being certified drooling idiots - Coach K is scandalized and turned in for "violation" ...

It was a similar nothing event that Pearl didn't report and then lied about that cost him his Tennessee job. There's a lack of respect from other coaches and sports writers that still follows him because of the way he handled a minor chickenshit violation.

Re: College basketball
I wonder what rules Evansville had been breaking
.

Top-ranked Kentucky falls at home to Evansville
... The preseason No. 2 in the AP Poll, Kentucky ascended to No. 1 with a 69-62 win over Michigan State to open the season. And then they ran into an Evansville team that out-shot, out-assisted and out-rebounded them.
Through just a week of college basketball, all three teams to get first-place votes in the preseason AP Poll — Kentucky, Michigan State and Kansas — have lost, though Kentucky’s loss is by far the most inexcusable.
Tuesday’s loss likely opens the door for Duke to take No. 1 in the next poll, but the Blue Devils’ less than impressive win over a sloppy Kansas team (the Blue Devils had 16 turnovers and 35.9 percent shooting) means that we might be in for a season without a truly dominant No. 1.

South Alabama almost beat us. Comfortable 14 point lead with about 8 minutes left and they went on a 20 to 5 run to take the lead with 1 minute left. We won with 2 seconds left 70 to 69.Vrede too wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 11:40 pmI wonder what rules Evansville had been breaking.
