No opinion from Billy regarding "#12" Texas A&M opening with Texas State?

:D

Thursday games don't appear in our pool. I would have taken Texas State plus the points, don't know if the spread was more or less than the 34 point final.

@#21 Iowa St is playing FBS Northern Iowa in Ames. Offline for us and no one took a wild chance on Northern Iowa. They're in the 3rd OT. Trivia: Steve King represents Ames, the only Iowa Repug in the House out of 4. I suspect that Ames did not support him, though. I have a warm place in my heart for it. My dog and I got rescued hitchhiking cross country in a snowstorm by a stoner student, spent the night in his dorm suite.

Edit: #21 Iowa St just won, but they still may drop out of the rankings.

33.5 point underdog is 0-0 with 'Bama after 1 quarter, already a big moral victory for Duke, looking good for me.

Go:

#19 Wisconsin -13 -12.5 @South Florida  Won 49-0.
South Alabama +36 @#24 Nebraska  Only lost by 14, 10 of 19 got it wrong.
Duke +35 +33.5 @#2 Alabama, :( 12 of 19 got it right.
@#25 Stanford -6.5 Northwestern Oh my FSM, Stanford hanging on for the 3 point win, sacked the NW QB, fumble rolled into the end zone, Stanford TD to beat the spread with 20 seconds left. A fumble recovery in the field of play would have just led to kneel downs. 12 of 19 had their hearts broken.
:happy-cheerleaderkid:

On paper the best game of the week:
#11 Oregon +3.5 @#16 Auburn Big Damn Plain Blue PMS Tigers 10 of 19 picked Auburn despite the spread. Duck opening drive: 75 yards for TD! Then Auburn 3 and out, and an OR punt run back into Auburn territory.

Winner automatically becomes part of the playoff discussion. Go Ducks!
I'm tied for 3rd, just 1 point out of the lead. :D

Lowly GA St beats TN 38-30, great for the rest of the SEC, except that also beating TN won't count for much.

Edit: 18 point underdog @Liberty got skunked 24-0 by #22 Syracuse. would make me smile even if I didn't bet on it. I'm now tied for 2nd, just 1 point out of the lead.

UNC is undefeated this season.

(Big whoop - I just wanted to see what it would be like to write that)

How humiliating for South Carolina. :violin: That Clemson game at season's end will be a snoozer.

Always strikes me as a little strange that lower ranked Auburn is picked so often against a higher ranked opponent.
Crap, but exciting. That's why, AP voters are idiots. Congrats.

GA > Vandy also hurt me. I'm knocked out of 1st, can still be in a 4-way tie for 2nd place money.

Squeak

but actually the 2nd time we have had an offense come from behind with less than 9 seconds left - the other time was Oregon in 2011.

That’s the most excitement NC has had in a long while.
It will all end 9/28, if not before.

It's actually a 5-way tie for 2nd place money that I can manage. I need both:
Houston +23.5 @#4 Oklahoma, 1930 tonight
#9 Notre Dame -20 @Louisville, 2000 Monday night

15 weeks at $5/week = $75
$15 for the season pot
$90 total buy-in

19 players = $95 pot per week
1st, 65% = $61.75
2nd, 35% = $33.25

5-way tie for second = $6.65, yippee!

There is no 3rd place prize. I’m 10-4 in online games. Many weeks that would be good enough to be leading.

Oklahoma led by 25 twice, ut-oh. 49-31 final score, whew  .

Maybe it was a different team, but I seem to remember a dominating OK offense and shaky defense last year, too. I'll hope they're vulnerable this year.

Go Irish, show me the money!

My bad, if Notre Dame beats the spread it will be a 6-way tie for second = $5.54.

Notre Dame won . . . by 18, grrrr. I already had big plans for that $5.54, a 54 cent net. 10-5 and only 2 players better is still pretty good for the week, decent start for the season-contest.

Interesting. This from Brett McMurphy

"My @AP_Top25 ballot:

1-Clemson 2-UGA 3-Alabama 4-Auburn 5-OU 6-Mich 7-OhSt 8-LSU 9-NotreDame 10-Utah 11-A&M 12-UF 13-Texas 14-PennSt 15-Wash 16-Wis 17-Ore 18-MissSt 19-MichSt 20-Memphis 21-Va 22-BoiseSt 23-Iowa 24-Neb 25-WashSt"

He's no Ohio State/urban fan.
