President* Trump

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Federal judges rule against Trump in 3 cases on executive powers

... While Friday’s decisions stem from cases unrelated to the Ukraine matter, they each address what plaintiffs claimed was a president overstepping his constitutional bounds.

Business records

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit upheld a lower court decision, ruling that Congress can see eight years of Trump’s business records held by his accounting firm, Mazars USA....

Denying green cards and visas to low-income immigrants

U.S. District Court Judge George Daniels of the Southern District of New York issued a preliminary nationwide injunction blocking a Trump administration rule set to take effect next week that would have made it easier to deny green cards and visas to immigrants who cannot show they will not require public assistance. After the administration announced the new rule, nearly a dozen states filed suit to block it....

Wall funding

U.S. District Court Judge David Briones, in the Western District of Texas, ruled that the declaration of a national emergency under which Trump diverted funds from other agencies to construct a Mexico border wall was unlawful....

All but one of the judges, an Obama appointee, was appointed by Bill Clinton. Call it The Clinton's Revenge.

I was thinking earlier today, and increasingly more early this evening, if the Joint Chiefs of Staff would at this point recognize an illegal order from dear leader. I'm sure the Secretary of Defense would order whatever trump told him to but I have my doubts that the chiefs would comply at this point. Martial law in certain areas and other nefarious stuff is what i was brooding on. Not to mention immediate strike orders on N Korea and or Iran and or China.
Scary thought. It's about all that's separating us from dictatorship. He's already trampled parts of the constitution.
Not the same thing, but the Joint Chiefs of Staff have shamefully complied with throwing our longtime allies the Kurds under the bus in favor of Turkish dictator Erdogan. Genocide in progress.
Definitely not the same thing. Sad but not illegal for them to comply. You know they were not happy.

True, but "illegal" has not been much of an impediment in the recent past - convoluted extension of the 9/11 AUMF for 18 years to cover pretty much anything, invasion based on hundreds of lies, slaughtering civilians, torture and abetting torture, rendition and other war crimes.

Don't we throw the Kurds under the bus on a fairly regular basis

Yes, as have many other nations.
A history of selling out the Kurds, people with 'no friends but the mountains'

As the skies over northeastern Syria blackened with smoke this week, as Turkish warplanes swooped down and gunfire and shelling resumed in what had briefly been an oasis of relative peace in the region, the world recognized what 36 million Kurds already knew: They had been betrayed, not for the first time, by their putative allies. In this case, the United States.

It has been a constant theme in the history of the Kurds, an ethnic group indigenous to parts of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. The quest for their own country where they could freely speak their own language, a right denied them for most of the 20th century, has come to define the Kurds, along with the broken promises of world powers that are happy to enlist the tough mountain people to fight their battles, but in the end find a reason to cut a deal with the national governments that have standing armies — and oil....

A resolution in the United Nations Security Council condemning the Turkish invasion, supported by most European nations, was opposed by the United States — and Russia.

... “We have no friends but the mountains.”

https://www.yahoo.com/news/ny-times-vio ... 20667.html
From the article

"The setting for the massacre is the "Church of Fake News,'"

"Tim Murtaugh, spokesman for the re-election organization, told the Times the "video was not produced by the campaign, and we do not condone violence."'

"the video includes the logo for Trump's 2020 campaign"

"The video was shown last week at an American Priority conference at Trump's Doral Miami resort
Event organizer Alex Phillips told the Times the video was played as part of a "meme exhibit" and was not associated with or endorsed by the conference "in any official capacity." ''American Priority rejects all political violence,"

Trump's face is superimposed on a killer's body as he shoots people in the face and otherwise assaults them.

The White House declined immediate comment

I'll comment

Memories

The campaign is evolving and transitioning, and so am I," he told the Wall Street Journal. "I'll be more effective and more disciplined."

Trump put it another way during a Thursday morning appearance on NBC's Today Show. "I will be so presidential," he said, "you will be so bored.

trump told a crowd at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, that "with the exception of the late, great Abraham Lincoln, I can be more presidential than any president that's ever held this office."

So Ted Cruz has always been a sleazebag and probably always will. During the Republican primary, he said awful things about Trump, and put up with many personal insults. Then, he turned into a Trump-toady. Now he says it was "of course not" appropriate for Trump to ask China to investigate Biden.
https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/ted-cruz ... 34601.html

Which brings up a question - Why aren't people like Cruz and the rest of the Clown Car primary participants not screaming "I told you so"? They don't have to turn away from the President* - they said he was trouble from the start and their "turning" has been a fake "support" for self-preservation. But now would seem time to point out they were "right" back in 2016.

White House: Trump 'strongly condemns' parody video of him shooting critics and media outlets in church

Yet no tweet about it, funny that  .

Even if he's being sincere - never likely with POSPOTUS - the video absolutely condemns Trumpettes, the video creators and the hundreds of wussy viewers that did not object. They’re both cruel and stupidly suicidal.

Also, let's not discount the probable fact that they had to PAY to be there at this event and see this "video." I have not seen it myself but having said that, I think it would be quite appropriate for the ending scene to be trump grabbing some woman who is "his type" by the pussy and waddling off into the sunset.

Here's trump's latest offensively stupid stunt; invites the British parents of the kid killed by the US diplomat's wife to an "urgent" White House meeting and surprises them by having the killer there also. Fucking incredible.

Wow.

National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien has a difficult job competing with Matthew Albence, Barr, David L. Bernhardt, Jim Bridenstine, Carson, Ken Cuccinelli, DeVos, Gina Haspel, Neil Jacobs, Kathy Kraninger, Larry Kudlow, Joseph Maguire, Mnuchin, Mark Morgan, Ajit Pai, William Pendley, Sonny Perdue, Perry, Pompeo, Wilbur Ross and Andrew R. Wheeler for WORST agency head, but I think he may be winning with this bold move in just his 1st month.
