The GOP rats are starting to desert the rapidly sinking POSPOTUS ship. Before long there will be a traffic jam at the lifeboats.
Defining 'desertion' pretty loosely, the list is now:
Sen. Lamar Alexander (TN)
Sen. Susan Collins (ME)
Sen. Ted Cruz (TX)
Sen. Ron Johnson (WI)
Sen. Rob Portman (OH)
Sen. Mitt Romney (UT)
Rep. Mark Amodei (NV)
Rep. John Curtis (UT)
Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA)
Rep. Will Hurd (TX)
Rep. John Shimkus (IL)
U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland
Former Governor John Kasich (OH)
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell
Former national security adviser John R. Bolton
Former Rep. Joe Walsh (IL) Jack Goldsmith, former top Justice Department lawyer in the George W. Bush administration, author, Harvard professor, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution
Judge Napolitano
Tucker Carlson
Republicans for the Rule of Law
Assuming Dem/Ind unanimity, 20 Repug Senators would have to be "rats" (patriots) in order to convict and remove. Seems unlikely, but the list above was impossible just a month ago. We'll see. The list of Repubs dumping POSPOTUS grows every day. Soon, very soon, the torrent will be too great to count the individuals. The elected ones are all realizing that getting beaten in primaries by the Trumpettes is less likely and losing the general elections is more likely.
I love a good RWNJ fight as they all scramble to blame each other for the catastrophes they jointly created.
Mmmm, popcorn.

but when has a repug's actions ever mirrored their rhetoric?
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”
I wouldn't put Collins on any list until she actually does what she says, and then probably not for another little while after that to make sure she doesn't renege. Slimeball.
That can apply to most of them.
"Defining 'desertion' pretty loosely ..." - We're seeing more separation from 45SHOLE than we have in 2.5 years, it's still quite early in this latest scandal and lots more will still come from the investigations and hearings. It will be a little difficult now for any of them to backtrack and say he did nothing wrong. I'm not counting on any individual, but I think I may be documenting a GOP trend.
Then, a few of them are patriots. Mitten, for example, just won in a landslide, is not up for reelection for 5 years, and is not at risk of going to prison . . . that we know of.
Donald, #impeachment is not a 'coup' - it's 'supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,' and it's required of every member of the House and Senate. #StopTheCoup - #ImpeachAndRemove
I know it sounds weird to you because you've done nothing but violate the Constitution since you've been in office, but the impeachment investigation is Congress' constitutional mandate. #ThePresidentIsACrybaby #stopthecoup #prickstarter #saturdaymorning #uppers #amjoy
There’s NO COUP @realDonaldTrump
It’s just you violating the constitution.
Which is why you’re going down.#StopTheCoup
There is no coup. Mick Mulvaney unequivocally admitted there was a quid pro quo for withholding military support to Ukraine for investigations into Democrats.... Reporters even gave him chances to walk back the statement and he said “get over it” #StopTheCoup
#StopTheCoup? Pfffft. We've been trying to stop it since 1/20/17, and we seem to finally be making some headway!

To early to say, but I just saw McConnell deny a tRump statement and some definite distancing of himself...not to mention the Syria resolution..little crack, but a definitive crack.
Eamus Catuli~AC 000000000101010202020303010304 020405....Ahhhh, forget it, it's gonna be a while.
... Former U.S. Attorney David Kelley said on MSNBC that the evidence against Trump is now so “damning” that if this were a criminal case, it probably wouldn’t even go to trial.
“When confronted with all the evidence, a reasonable defendant would likely take a plea.” he said....
But Colbert offered a different take.
“Do you understand what this means?” he asked. “We finally have solid evidence of the crime that Trump and his chief of staff have already confessed to committing on camera.” ...
Co-chair of the United States Justice Department’s nationwide investigation into the September 11 attacks;
Chief of the organized crime and terrorism unit in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the SDNY;
Led the investigations of the 2000 millennium attack plots;
Led the investigations of the October 2000 attack on the USS Cole in Yemen;
Prosecuted Ramzi Yousef for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing;
Co-lead prosecutor of John Walker Lindh, "The American Taliban”.
But, what does he know about patriotism, treason and international criminality?
The Democrats have been plotting and planning a coup d’état against President Trump since before he was even elected to office. They’re even trying to make it look like they’re following the Constitution. But they’re not. And in the process, they are creating a dangerous threat to the peaceful transfer of power and the rule of law.
The standard is so high in the Constitution that presidential abuses of political power must involve “truly abominable misconduct” (to use Andy McCarthy’s phrase) and require a two-thirds vote in the Senate to convict. This is a threshold that is impossible to reach short of “high crimes and misdemeanors” that arouse the indignation of the entire populace. That indignation does not exist at the moment. The only way Democrat pollsters can create the illusion of a national consensus for impeachment is to oversample Democrats by 14 points. Trump’s disapproval number is at 43%, right where Obama’s was a year before he was re-elected to a second term.
The only reason Democrats are pursuing impeachment now is the terrifying realization that they have no one who can beat Trump at the ballot box.
In fact, the Democrats do not want a genuine impeachment inquiry because that would bring this one-sided business of closed-door hearings and cherry-picked excerpts of witness testimony to a screeching halt. It would also provide Republicans with the opportunity to subpoena witnesses of their own, which they can’t do at this point. https://www.afa.net/the-stand/culture/2 ... 4.facebook
Article 17, paragraph 11 clearly states that closed door hearings are only for Republicans
Repugs are desperately and stupidly whining on and on about process in a lame and cowardly bid to deflect from discussion of the content - 45SHOLE's (and several others) campaign law felonies and treason. Poor babies.

Why is it interesting? Because he doesn't know what he's talking about? Because it's mostly his own opinion? He blatantly lies that the Constitution is "very specific" in what sort of crime a president must commit to be impeached. That's bullshit; the Constitution is extremely vague about the subject of what constitutes impeachable offense. And instead of backing up his stupid claim with a quote from the "vague" Constitution, he quotes some asshole named Andy. Yeah, that sure is interesting, ain't it? I will close by quoting your cult leader trump; "We'll see what happens." He likes to say that after he makes some stupid decision. What's interesting is a woman with a mustache.
Eww! You have a woman with a mustache.
Just waiting on the leftist whiners to get another futile allegation moving forward.

The House Democrats are already misfiring by failing to note that “the House of Representatives...shall have the sole power of impeachment.” Only a vote of the entire House can impeach. On her own authority, the Speaker can’t, nor can Adam Schiff nor any other committee chairman. Since the full House has the sole power of impeachment, and the House has never voted on the matter, there is no true impeachment inquiry at the moment at all. This is why it is perfectly proper for the executive branch to ignore “subpoenas” from House committees. If they want those subpoenas to have any legal force, they’re going to have to make things official. https://www.afa.net/the-stand/culture/2 ... 4.facebook

Speaker Pelosi was adamantly opposed to impeachment proceedings until she got stampeded into it in the wake of the president’s utterly innocent phone call with the Ukrainian president. Even now she continues to offer only vague comments about where the process is going to go. She seems to be the only Democrat with an appreciation of the pit into which the Democrats could fall if their impeachment attempt fails.

Nope, didn't say I had a woman with a mustache; just that one is interesting. It's why con men and barkers always have Jo Jo the dog faced boy, the bearded lady, pinhead, the fat lady. But, hell, you must know this; possibly even personal experience with family or close acquaintances. And hold on to your bearded lady because it won't be long before more of your cult leader's bungling is revealed. There may even be a bearded lady involved before it's over. To quote trump; "We'll see what happens."

Just more ignorant comment from Andy or whoever this idiot is; first, what's going on now is an inquiry, not an impeachment proceeding. There's a big difference that even four out of seven bearded ladies grasp. Once this inquiry is over, and it may take a while, there will be a vote as to whether to proceed with formal impeachment. No vote for approval or disapproval of an inquiry is required or needed. Just like there's no vote whether to investigate a possible crime, there is no vote for an impeachment inquiry to be authorized. Imagine you own a bank and it just got robbed; you call the cops; do you think they take a vote among themselves to decide whether or not to investigate this alleged robbery? Just grab your bearded lady and settle back and take it easy. This will be fine.

It will fail and they will fail, again.
Just came across this article about the impending impeachment circus and thought you might like to read it. Maybe the circus will have bearded ladies. We'll see what happens. https://www.yahoo.com/news/if-trump-tri ... 28121.html
