I like trick plays and think they have their place, but NOT when you're already well within range of an OT-forcing FG.O Really wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 12:40 amOK, so it's not the Super Bowl, but can we give Pete Carroll a break for a while? Not that I'm complaining, but WTF were they thinking?

I'm not sure it would have really been a "trick" play - except the part where the UNC defence was in his face before he even got a good grip on the ball. He probably wouldn't even have jumped if it weren't for being severely spooked.Vrede too wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 12:11 pmI like trick plays and think they have their place, but NOT when you're already well within range of an OT-forcing FG.O Really wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 12:40 amOK, so it's not the Super Bowl, but can we give Pete Carroll a break for a while? Clemson's offense will receive plenty of attention and praise after tonight's performance and rightfully so, but what another legit showing from Clemson's defense. Dabo Swinney challenged his guys this week to man up against a downhill rushing attack that featured 250-pound running back A.J. Dillon, who's one of the most talented backs in the ACC, and an offensive line that bullied N.C. State for four quarters last week.
And Clemson's defense -- front seven in particular -- delivered.

I think the jump was part of the plan, but would call it a trick play, regardless. RB Deon Jackson throws once per year. This year his QB Rating is -200.
"I congratulate Clemson on another win. I think that's 21 straight or something. Those guys are phenomenal and do a great job and I do think Dabo (Swinney)'s the best football coach in the country and he's got the best team in the country. - UNC Mack Brown
"Give Clemson a lot of credit," Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield said. "We knew they were an outstanding football team and they came in here today and proved it.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that they’re the No. 1 team in the country – skilled, talented everywhere, proven it on the field. So when I watch their tape, I see no weaknesses. I see great athletes and a great coaching staff.” – Boston College Coach Steve Addazio

1 Alabama (8-0) Should fall, imo. Did, not far enough.
2 LSU (8-0) Should rise, imo. Check.
3 Ohio State (8-0) Should rise, imo. Robbed.
4 Clemson (8-0) Should fall, imo. Didn't, poser.
6 Penn State (8-0) Will rise. Did, not far enough, and I don't even like PSU.
8-0 PSU, ugh, should knock AL or Clemson out of a playoff spot, having beaten ranked Iowa and Michigan. Then come some 1 loss teams that can make the case that they’ve played the real competition that AL and Clemson have not, but I won’t hold by breath for any of this.
FL - GA on 11/2 will be THE big game.
Undefeateds LSU - AL and PSU - MN on 11/9 (all 4 have byes next week) will be THE big games.
Lotsa chances for Auburn and Oregon to move up.
1 LSU (8-0)
2 Alabama (8-0)
3 Ohio State (8-0)
4 Clemson (8-0)
5 Penn State (8-0)
Texas A&M, Alabama and Clemson's best win, is #30.

(14)Michigan -17.5 -21 @Maryland. Yeah, I might be a traitor again. What do y'all think? Big jump, gamblers are shunning Maryland.
@(23)Wake Forest Off (0) N.C. State. Vegas says Wake Forest -8.5.
Tuesday: N.C. State +7.5 @(23)Wake Forest
@Kansas +6.5 (22)Kansas St. Knock it out of the rankings. Opinions?
@(6)Florida +3.5 +6.5 (8)Georgia. Hmmm, Florida at home and it's higher ranked, yet it's the underdog.Who do y'all hate more? Another big jump.
@(4)Clemson Off (0) Wofford. Ooooh, challenging game for a Playoffs poser. Vegas thinks -47.5. Why even play? If I could, I'd take Wofford + the points.
@Washington +2 +3.5 (9)Utah. Hmmm, spread seems low, but I'll go with Stoners > Mormons. Husky pride!
Mississippi +18.5 +19.5 @(11)Auburn. Might let any late Vegas wiggle decide this one for me. I have until Sat. 1155 ET.
@(24)Memphis -3 -5.5 (15)SMU. Blues > Shrub. Yet another big jump.
(7)Oregon -4.5 @USC. I can't get over Oregon being #7. The Florida - Georgia winner will stay higher ranked and no other higher ranked teams are playing a real game. So, it will stay #7 unless it loses.
A lot of teams have a bye this week, only 12 games have at least one ranked team playing. Just 2 games between ranked teams, but there are a healthy 6 with a single digit spread.

7 Oregon (7-1) Nice, up from #11, gettin' close.
13 Minnesota (8-0) All the way!
20 Appalachian State (7-0) 2019-20 Champs!
Dammit. We've disbanded the Championship Parade committee.Georgia Southern stuns No. 20 Appalachian State again
BOONE, N.C. (AP) Wesley Kennedy ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns and Georgia Southern upset No. 20 Appalachian State for the second straight season, 24-21 on Thursday night.
The Eagles (5-3, 3-1 Sun Belt) ran for 335 yards and held the country's ninth-highest scoring offense in check most of the night on a rainy, windy Halloween night where temperatures dipped into the 20s.
Georgia Southern ended Appalachian State's 13-game winning streak, handing the Mountaineers their first loss since the Eagles knocked off them out of the Top 25 more than a year ago with a 34-14 victory....
I'm 1-1, tied for 13th.Vrede too wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 8:57 amGo:

Yep, not even close, but 15 others out of our 19 got it correct.

Nope, not even close, 44-10, 11 got it correct. Look out, Clemson, they're coming for you 11/16 for the win AND the division tiebreaker.
I'm now 2-4, still tied for 13th and out of the money with 5 games left to go.Vrede too wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 8:57 amGo:

CLEM 59, WOF 14. Clemson under-performed.
@Washington +2 +3.5 (9)Utah. Hmmm, spread seems low, but I'll go with Stoners > Mormons. Husky pride!
Crap, both for the loss, and for the spread loss by just 1.5!My sympathy to Lady O.
Mississippi +19.5 @(11)Auburn. Might let any late Vegas wiggle decide this one for me. I have until Sat. 1155 ET.
Vegas wiggled by a point to +18.5, so I stuck with Mississippi. 16 of 19 picked Auburn, my biggest oddball pick of the day.
Congrats. You dodged the bullet there at the end. I'll take the spread win.
Yeah, I was thinking of you. Go @Seattle vs Tampa Bay.
