War on Women

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Anti-Abortion Bill Requires Doctors to Perform Procedure That They Say Does Not Exist

Lawmakers in the Ohio State Legislature recently introduced an anti-abortion bill which forces doctors to “re-implant an ectopic pregnancy” into a woman’s uterus or face a felony “abortion murder” charge. However, according to doctors, there is a substantial problem with the bill – no such procedure exists in medical science.

House Bill 413, which was introduced by a bloc of staunch conservatives in the state’s House of Representatives with nearly 20 co-sponsors, says that in order for physicians to avoid criminal charges for murder, they must attempt “to re-implant an ectopic pregnancy into the women’s uterus.”

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants and begins to grow outside of the uterus, most often on the fallopian tube. Ectopic embryos are not viable, but their growth can cause life-threatening bleeding in pregnant women.

There has never been a documented case in which an ectopic fetus was removed from the fallopian tube and transplanted into a woman’s uterus, experts say.

“I don’t believe I’m typing this again but, that’s impossible,” Dr. David Hackney, an OB/GYN specialist wrote in response to the bill. “We’ll all be going to jail,” he added....

Dr. Daniel Grossman, a clinical OB/GYN and public health researcher on abortion and contraception attempted to rebut the legislature’s apparent misconception regarding ectopic pregnancies, explaining that the technology for the proposed reimplantation simply does not exist.

“Somewhere between 1-3% of pregnancies are ectopic. Based on that, I estimate that at least 2,000 Ohio women have an ectopic pregnancy each year,” Grossman wrote.

“Unfortunately, an ectopic pregnancy cannot be “re-implanted” into the uterus. We just don’t have the technology. So I would suggest removing this from your bill, since it’s pure science fiction.” ...

My Bible says that god created ectopic pregnancies in order to kill sinful women. Any medical intervention is wrong.

I have some big news to share: None of the state abortion bans passed earlier this year are in effect.

The Alabama law would have banned abortion in nearly all instances and threatened doctors with up to 99 years in prison for performing an abortion. The ban was set to go in effect on November 15, but we stopped it in its tracks.

So let's recap:

Alabama: BLOCKED
Arkansas: BLOCKED
Georgia: BLOCKED
Missouri: BLOCKED
Kentucky: BLOCKED
Ohio: BLOCKED
Utah: BLOCKED

Make no mistake, we did this together. Supporters like you make it possible for our team to act swiftly whenever our rights are attacked – whether by state lawmakers, the Trump administration, or Congress.

The fight for our abortion rights is long and these lawsuits are ongoing. But we're winning, and we have you to thank.

Thanks for your support,

I had to read up on this one.

Ectopic basically means the embryo gets implanted in a wrong location, outside the uterus. It is a painful and potentially fatal condition. About 10% of maternal deaths in the first trimester are due to ectopic pregnancies. Medical intervention may include surgery and/or antibiotics to clear up any underlying infection.

And yes, there is no medical procedure available to re-implant the ectopic embryo in the proper location. This is another example of the Religious Right trampling on the basic human rights of women.
or it could be said that this is an example of the RR trampling reality.
Another unintended consequence of belief in flying sky fairies
Or ignorant followers was likely the intended consequence

In case anyone is interested in the mechanics - A blastocyst implants ONE time, whether in the uterus or tragically in the fallopian tube. There is no way to separate it from the fallopian tube, and no way to force it to re-implant a second time. This is not a 'wait for the technology' issue. That technology will never be there.

These Ohio Repugs are hateful misogynists, like all anti-choicers, and are also utter morons.

Leftists consider an infant not a human being when aborted, now, even just before birth.
Then they use the aborted infant’s body for medical procedures for human beings.
Who knew that leftists are baby killers.

 A cultist posted above about baby killers, even though there's no such thing and the same cultist professes angst over mistreatment of the elderly and disabled, all the while ignoring the fact that he supports politicians who want to kick millions of people (some old and or disabled) off their insurance coverage, make sure poor kids go hungry, and give welfare to corporations and billionaires. He doesn't even realize he's confused because he watches and listens to people on tv and radio that tell him how and what to think instead of thinking for himself.

 Also, a lot has been said about who now convicted ( ) Harvey Weinstein associated with, but the truth is that we mostly don’t know what these associates knew and when they knew it. Otoh, POSPOTUS has admitted to knowing what Weinstein was up to and staying silent.

‘Price Is Right’ donates almost $100K to Planned Parenthood causing uproar among fans

Legendary drag queen RuPaul made a special appearance during a very special primetime episode of The Price Is Right at Night on Monday. The Emmy-winning creator of RuPaul’s Drag Race did not play, but he did root for all the contestants because the show matched the value of the prizes with a donation to the charity of his choosing.

It was a great night for contestants, as all six of them won their respective games. And since two of the prizes were cars, the prize total added up to $97,266. While RuPaul was excited about The Price Is Right donating almost $100,000 to Planned Parenthood, many viewers were not.

Planned Parenthood has provided much needed medical support to communities for over 100 years, though recently it has come under intense scrutiny by pro-life advocates concerning some of the birth control methods it provides patients, particularly abortions. And many of these advocates took to Twitter to share their displeasure with the show’s donation....

I'm a little surprised that she had so little regard for her own legacy, but some people put money over everything.

I don't doubt they paid her - apparently they've documented about $450,000 over some time - but her record of being consistent in her stories isn't very good. Her role in Roe v. Wade was little more than the designated plaintiff, but once she met Flip 'n Rob she said she had been "duped". Then she was a lesbian and then she wasn't - a Catholic, but not a very good one. Now she says her work with Flip 'n Rob was "just an act." Probably was, and almost a half mil is a lot for someone with her life, but likely a lot of her life was an act, too.

I'm not a sudden fan, but I appreciate what is likely her honest, imminent death, admission.

Judge Whose Anti-Rape Advice Was 'Close Your Legs' Loses Job

A judge who suggested that a woman seeking a restraining order could “close your legs” to prevent a sexual assault was removed from the bench Tuesday by the New Jersey Supreme Court and permanently barred from presiding over a courtroom.

The unanimous decision cited “repeated and serious acts of misconduct” by state Superior Court Judge John Russo Jr.

Chief Justice Stuart Rabner wrote that it would be “inconceivable” for Russo to preside over domestic violence or sexual assault matters after those comments....
