Let me mention again

My son gets to go to the Final Four
Men, Women or NIT? :P
Oh, c'mon. There's only one real "Final Four." The others would be lower case "final four."

I get a kick out of saying, my kid gets to go to the Final Four game

That would be cool.

I don't see that this Auburn team has the enthusiasm as last year's team. Supposedly we have more talent and the season is young. Last year we lost a bunch in February but won the last 12 or 13, so I can still hope.

The kid is loving his new job. He rode in the Goodyear Blimp a couple of weeks ago and interviews Bryce Brown from last year's Auburn team today. City life suits him fine.

Correction: Bryce is hurt and didn't travel with the team.

I've said all along that Auburn isn't the team it was last year and that bammer and Florida are better than their record shows.

I hope Auburn gets a lot better; otherwise, there are going to be a lot of losses.
The season is young. Ask me again in March.

No "mean" intended.
I'm happy to root for my friends' teams as long as they aren't among the slimy scum ones. And my new-found fondness for SDSU is only because that's the only college basketball news we get around here. Getting to know something about teams or players or people who root for them tends to personalize them a bit. As for UNC, I'm pretty sure this is the worst season since I attended - back when they used peach baskets. I don't know where they found these guys or why Roy can't get them to play, but something ain't right. Hopefully Duke hasn't caught the same disease.

Did you just say something kind about Duke? Ouch, you really are busted up over UNC’s season. :P

North Carolina is currently 8-9, 1-5.
Its last ACC losing season was 2009–10, 5–11, but 20–17 overall and NIT Runner-Up.
Its last overall losing season was 2001–02 under Coach Doherty, 8–20, 4–12. After then going 19–16, 6–10 in 2002–03 season and only reaching the NIT Quarterfinals, Doherty was replaced by Williams the next year.
Otherwise, as you say there have been no ACC or overall losing seasons since your Coach Smith era, 1963–64 12–12, 6–8 and 1961–62 8–9, 7–7.

Wow, we may be seeing history being made.

Along with the rest of the ACC that’s beating up on it, UNC still has:
@9 Florida State
3 (until tomorrow :( ) Duke (15-3, 5-2)
@11 Louisville
@3 Duke

Unlike some, my only "Dook-hate" applies to games against the 'Heels. Otherwise, I'm a luke-warm fan. I wouldn't mind if there was a 1-2 UNC/Duke ACC finish all the time. I've enjoyed seeing Clemson lose for a long time before CAT plopped on our sidewalk, but s/he hasn't changed that.

Classic. AP #19 Clemson vs. 1 Virginia in the other semi tonight. Go Duke and Virginia, then go Duke.
"go Dook"?? Seriously? K9Nanny will bop you on your pointy little head. I will fart in your general direction.

A good batch of chili is always tasty on a winter night. Especially with a fresh broccoli/cabbage salad.

:thumbup:

Might not be noticeable the way Carolina has been stinkin' up the joint, though :P .

Watch, I'll have to eat those smelly words :roll: .

AP Rankings

Big shakeup.

1 Baylor Bears 16-1 Ugh.
2 Gonzaga Bulldogs 20-1
3 Kansas Jayhawks 15-3 Ugh.
4 San Diego State 20-0, was #7 Wow.
5 Florida State Seminoles 16-2, was #9 Ugh.
6 Louisville Cardinals 15-3, was #11
7 Dayton Flyers 16-2, was #13 Dayton, really?
8 Duke Blue Devils 16-3, was #3 Could have been worse.
9 Villanova Wildcats 15-3, was #14
10 Seton Hall Pirates 14-4, was #18
11 Michigan State Spartans 14-4 Ugh.
12 Oregon Ducks 15-4, was #8 Could have been worse.
13 Butler Bulldogs 15-4, was #5
14 West Virginia Mountaineers 15-3
15 Kentucky Wildcats 14-4, was #10
16 Auburn Tigers 15-2, was #4 Ouch.
17 Maryland Terrapins 15-4

(34) Florida Gators 12-6, recent victor over Auburn

(42) East Tennessee State Buccaneers 17-3

Still no votes for Clemson, WA and UNC, worse than Northern Iowa, Liberty and Harvard :shock: .

I don't know if the 'Heels have ever been booed in the Dean Dome, but if not, I'd say it's time. Smith's probably flipping over in his grave.

20-0 is a pretty impressive record no matter how weak a conference you play in. Aztecs play conference #2 UNLV Saturday, 11-9 overall, 6-1 in conference. Still, I doubt they'd be #4 if all the blue blood schools weren't losing. They'd be getting "blue field" directional school treatment.

I used to be a big fan of my local backwater Div 1 women's team. Sometimes, the crowds exceeded the men's games. One year they got to 27-0, then finished 28-2. They had a 12 year stretch where they made it to the NCAA Tournament second round 7 times, but never could overcome that hurdle.

Same coach for 38 years, 865–286 overall, 455–109 conference, retired a couple of years ago. He had his chances to go to a top tier school, but never left us.

By 1995–1996 women's basketball had become so popular nationally - WNBA started in 1997 - that they couldn't keep up with bigger, richer school recruiting in more populous states, and haven't won an NCAA first round game again. It was a helluva run while it lasted, though.
