What a difference 53 years makes. 4 a.m. tv and an old "true story, but the names have been changed" season 1 episode of Dragnet about immigration and undocumented workers.

Hard ass Broaddrick Crawford was looking to stop a fine merican white guy from blackmailing the workers he smuggled over the border.
The Highway Patrol was out "to stop this vicious traffic in human misery". As Broaddrick said about our fine welcoming laws, "Good health and character is all you need to work in this country".
Show ends with bad white guy dead and Broaddrick thanks the undocumented dude for his help.
