People have been studying bats for decades. When I was a teen just out of high school, I spent a summer at a research station in the mountains near the Mexican border. There was a team of scientists who were there specifically to studying the bats in the caves nearby.

Bats are native to America. They serve an important ecological function, responsible for eliminating huge amounts of noxious pests like mosquitoes. It's not their fault if a virus they contract has moved on to infect people and cause some to perish.

Me, I wouldn't even think of eating a bat. Even venturing into a bat cave can invite a serious lung infection. I learned that when at the research station.

And the quarter was a long planned one in the national park series.

But the coincidental timing of this release is coincidental and a little scary

Misinformation related to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic

Some media outlets, including Daily Mail and RT, as well as individuals spread misinformation by circulating a video that showed a young Chinese woman eating a bat and falsely suggesting that it was shot in Wuhan. The widely circulated video contains unrelated footage of a Chinese travel vlogger, Wang Mengyun, eating bat soup (specifically a stewed Pelew flying fox[citation needed]) in the island country of Palau in 2016. Wang posted an apology on Weibo, in which she said that she had received threats, and that she had only wanted to showcase Palauan cuisine. The spread of misinformation about eating bats is rooted in xenophobia toward Asians. Scientists suggest that the virus originated in bats and hopped into an intermediary host animal before infecting people.

Several viral tweets purporting that snorting cocaine would sterilize one's nostrils of the coronavirus spread around Europe and Africa. In response, the French Ministry of Health released a PSA debunking this claim, as did the World Health Organisation.

US President Donald Trump and his top economic adviser Larry Kudlow have been accused of spreading misinformation about the coronavirus. On 25 February, Trump said, "I think that whole situation will start working out. We’re very close to a vaccine." SARS-CoV-2 has been "community-spreading" in the United States undetected for weeks, and new vaccine development may require a minimum of a year to prove safety and efficacy to gain regulatory approval. In an interview with Sean Hannity on 4 March, Trump also claimed that the death rate published by the WHO is false (that the correct fatality rate was less than 1 percent, and said, "Well, I think the 3.4 percent is really a false number."), that the potential impact of the outbreak is exaggerated by Democrats plotting against him, and that it is safe for infected individuals to go to work. In a later tweet, Trump denied he made claims regarding infected individuals going to work, despite footage from the interview.

The White House has accused the media of intentionally stoking fears of the virus to destabilize the administration. The Stat News reported that "President Trump and members of his administration have also said that US containment of the virus is 'close to airtight' and that the virus is only as deadly as the seasonal flu. Their statements range from false to unproven, and in some cases, underestimate the challenges that public health officials must contend with in responding to the virus." Around the same time that the "airtight" claim was made, the SARS-CoV-2 was already past containment because the first case of community spread of the virus was confirmed, and it was spreading faster than severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus with a case fatality rate at least seven times the fatality rate for seasonal flu.

I've been collecting these America the Beautiful quarter sets (five quarters each year) and have all of them except 2017 and 2020. I only collect the "S" mint (San Francisco) versions, which are 90% silver just like our quarters were before 1965. And starting with the 2019 set, the "S" mint ones are struck in .999 (99.9%) silver. A 90% silver US quarter contains .1808 oz of silver, the .999 ones 10% more silver than .1808oz. Also, there are a lot less of them struck than the regular copper nickle worthless ones.

No, not likely you'll get any silver quarters of any stripe in change. The "S" mint ones are not made for circulation. And since last year they've been striking them in .999 silver, which means each quarter contains about a fifth of an ounce of silver. The other day silver was a little over $15 which makes a 2019 or 2020 "S" quarter worth about three dollars just for its silver content.
