Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Fwiw, once one has recovered and is symptom free, according to WHO they are probably immune and not a carrier. Hence, the 14-day quarantines. However, the virus evolves, so permanent immunity is not definitive yet.

Got an email from my bank today; they are only operating the drive thru tellers. Any other business, you must call and make an appointment.

I started collecting crickets from my crawl space for a little late night treat to conserve my stockpile.

How has your guys lives changed?

Before the crickets there were spiders which served as a tasty treat, but that supply has since been exhausted causing the crickets to proliferate.

We don't go to gym anymore, and of course all attractions/events/restaurants are closed. As of this evening, the whole state of California is closed and on the same stay-inside requirements that the SF area has been in. We do have some nice places to walk with not many people around, and trails are still open in most parks - so far - and easy to dodge the few people on them. The Flower Fields are in bloom, and even though they're officially closed, you can walk along beside them. https://www.theflowerfields.com/ We've cancelled out what would have been our April travel to Arizona, and may end up cancelling or getting cancelled from May. We won't be able to return to Canada this summer, and until/unless things get better we really don't have interest in going to Washington. But on the bright side, there are far worse places to be grounded than Oceanside.

FL Gov De Santis, who IMNVHO has generally done a better job than I ever expected out of a right-wing-trumper-loon, has now demonstrated his ineptness in sticking his head in the (beach) sand. He let the thousands of young people flock the beaches, garnering additional exposure opportunity as well as horrid publicity.

But I do understand that he and the beach cities are between a rock and a hard place. If you chase them off the beach, where are they going to go? Through the streets, parks, public buildings, yada. Airport to wait and hope for a plane?

Strictly speaking, the beaches are not "closed" here, either, but we don't have the thousands of spring breakers crowded all over. Even under the "stay-home" order, you can go out to exercise and walk on/along the beach as long as you aren't in a crowd.

Nevertheless, with universities all over throwing students out of housing and stuff closing all over, it doesn't seem unreasonable to run the spring breakers back home.

Maybe sharks can do Coronavirus testing. It's possible, and maybe even likely, that sharks can tell if a human has the virus or is otherwise fucked up and realizing this will not bite people that are infected.

And I'm thinking about starting a rumor or conspiracy theory or whatever you want to call it that marijuana cures Coronavirus, and also provides rather pleasant side effects. I myself am currently out of medicine but plan on starting intensive clinical trials in the next day or two.

From your lips . . .

Is spring break over? Local Florida officials close beaches after gov refuses to.

It's a shame that in a pandemic Darwin Award winners cause innocents to suffer.

Yeah, spreading the virus through the unintended consequences of poorly planned restrictions should get the Darwin Award.

Okay to pack 3 year old kids in a room, but not good to have people 10, 50 or 100 feet apart on the beach.

For the most part, our beaches in north San Diego County are being sparsely used, much as you described yours. Don't know about the beaches closer to the city, but there haven't been reports of crowds. There is some closer crowding in places like the seawall walk in Carlsbad because it has side barriers maybe 8 feet wide and is a popular walking spot. But overall, most people are making an effort to keep distance.

Not so in the mid-to-south parts of Florida. Clearwater beach was where the most pics came from, and unless somebody was intentionally using a previous year, the crowds were the same as any normal year. And there were plenty of people there willing to brag about how they ain't skeered of no varus. So yeah - I think some more thought and some better state leadership would have been better, but I still think they made the right choice to disperse them off the beach.

And I agree, but not into crowded hotel rooms. My only point is it has to be thought through and some of it done in steps. Maybe first would be no new check-ins at hotels and rentals. Then step 2 if necessary - everybody off the beach.

SILs in Ft. Lauderdale, Sarasota and BIL in Boca all say the same. (wife's family)

I'll bet at least some of the photos in the media are from last year, but could have been Daytona or similar crazy location.

On the other hand, the breakers already had hotel rooms or rentals, so they arguably had already contaminated them. It wasn't like they all went first out to the beach and then had to find fresh rooms.
