Coronavirus

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Arizona must think they're Florida of the West...

Yeah, I saw on the news tonight that the local beaches like Stinson were packed today, with cars lining the narrow two lane state highway through town. And residents of the small town had put up signs on their houses saying, "Go Home!".

It's starting to feel like the outside world is deteriorating into a 1950's Twilight Zone episode. Although I have to admit I always enjoyed the TZ.

Been watching the Fargo TV series. What a mess!

Maybe Florida is ahead of the game.

I still think that closing the beach before the hotels compounded the problem.

It's kind of surreal seeing signs on the interstate from DHEC stating "STAY AT HOME!"

Just watched NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo give an update, very impressive compared to any nonscientist at the WH briefings:

Recitation of useful facts including other states, entire US and other nations;
An obvious understanding of the significance of the facts, able to speak largely off the cuff;
Honesty and transparency;
Explanation of NY's actions;
No sugar coating, but also explains why we shouldn't panic.

This is what leadership looks like.

Thank God for these governors, at least there are some leaders.

Unlike Mr. "Leading From Behind" .

Maybe Trump could go around and toss some rolls of toilet paper since he's an experienced paper towel roll tosser. That would probably be as big a help now as it was then.

Government announces toilet paper airdrops
Communities across the UK have been told to brace themselves for a series of airdrops as toilet paper supplies run out in the wake of the Coronavirus crisis.

Chinook helicopters are to be loaded and dispatched to strategic locations in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. People in Wales will be encouraged to use dock leaves until fresh supplies can be sourced.

Red Cross volunteers and army personnel are to take charge of the airdrops once they are on the ground. An Army spokesperson said, “We have instructions to shoot to kill anyone who tries to break through our cordons or take more than they are entitled to.”

How appropriate, though, for the Ass-Wipe-in-Chief to toss toilet paper.

Could be worse, could be dropping bat flu quarters.

Shit; that does it. No way will I go outside and take a chance on being hit by a bat quarter falling and spinning at nearly 110mph or however fast those deep state helicopters fly. And god help us if they're dropping rolls of them.

Well, I screwed up my initial reply to this......two things about it, though. Cute how they parked in the fire lane to load their bounty, and I figure there's probably an even chance that if you follow that GMC truck you may just be able to get some free tp and paper towels; he's loaded that stuff pretty high and I figure those boxes don't weigh any more than about five pounds, plus from the way bounty woman's hair is blowing around, there appears to be a pretty good breeze. What would be cool is if the Allstate mayhem guy walked by with his handy plastic bottle of lighter fluid and soaked those boxes down good and lit them up. As he walks away he can say "be protected from mayhem....like me."

Who knew that throwing rolls of paper towels at Puerto Ricans was just a warm-up?
They call me Creamy Tawdry.
