What will we look like after?

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

What will we look like after?

It seems that the animals were just waiting for us to fuck up

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ ... r-raccoons

But as the coronavirus crisis changes the rhythms of urban life, there are some early signs that animals – especially the creatures that lurk in the periphery of big cities and suburbs – are feeling emboldened to explore.

In Nara, Japan, sika deer wandered through city streets and subway stations. Raccoons were spotted on the beach in an emptied San Felipe, Panama. And turkeys have made a strong showing in Oakland, California, home of one Guardian editor.

Some services such as garbage pickup will have to continue or we run the risk of creating new problems, but what about maintenance of the growth along roadways and in city parks. If they aren't being used, I assume that maintenance will be suspended and more and more forest creatures will venture in.
The deer we saw in the vacant lot on my street yesterday was the first deer I've ever seen here.

Yeah, but that's our old new york virus. It takes 4 years to cure.

Our toilet paper making industry may emerge healthy than ever, then crash during the months or years that it takes for folks to use up their hoarded supplies.

Worst cases:

Our population's average age may end up significantly younger. This will be especially apparent in places like FL and Hooterville.

Our prison and detainee population may be ravaged.

I see the income inequality gap going full blown 3rd world if this thing lasts over 6 months.

Is Kimberly Clark in Hendersonville cranking out massive loads of toilet paper? I thought they switched over to diapers several years ago. Or have they re tooled to make cars now that trump says he has GM making ventilators? If this keeps up, investors won't know what the hell the companies they're investing in actually do.

If any of us can score some of this massive corporate welfare, we should start up Acme and begin manufacturing everything from dynamite to mouse traps and gain the reputation for being able to do anything. We'll all be rich and famous in the Acme way.

... The plant produces nonwoven materials for Kimberly-Clark's North American adult and feminine care brands including Depend, Poise and U by Kotex....

Could probably switch to TP easily.

The demise of brick and mortar stores will have been hastened by the millions of people that get used to online shopping and home delivery.

Many people say that trump fucked a midget in Guatemala and the spawn was a chupacabra. Everybody knows it. I think it got stomped just before a terrible shitrain blew through so we lucked out on that.

Sometimes, my mind goes to a dark place.

Other than close family everyone, even those with no apparent ill intent or malicious motive, has become a potential threat to us, everyone. We have all become the Trumps.

Is that something individuals or a society can ever recover from?

The virus is the threat.

And even it has no motive or intent other than to perpetuate its existence. Actually, it's more of a complex and opportunistic biochemical reaction that exists because it can. We will not overcome it by fighting each other. We will overcome it by outsmarting it.
Medically, the virus and its reservoir (people) and vector (droplets) are the threat. Can't have one without the other two.

I didn't say anything about fighting, but you're correct that's a big difference from the Trump Klan. The similarities are that we must suspect and fear others, even if we don't blame them like the Trumps do.

The Trumps have done some "outsmarting" of their own, which is a sad reflection on the collective 'we'.
