Long ago when the original "Candid Camera" was on, there was a hilarious segment where they "closed Delaware for repairs" and were stopping people at the border. Couldn't find that one, but here's the same stunt, closing Texas.

Not so funny anymore, now that they closed India.

Let's close America to Mississippians. We might have to pay China to take it off our hands, totally worth it.

I'm taking a stroll downtown.
I already had to taze two people with the cattle prod because they weren't respecting the six foot social distancing.
Had to hit this other dude with the mace.

Re: Social Distancing 1A
A lot about how to adapt to remote work is dependent on the type of work done. In particular, whether it's self-directed or externally-directed. Is it up to you to call people, or do you respond to incoming calls? Are all records and work necessities online, or do you have to deal with paper? Do you need or have access to admin support that's still back at the office? Are your calls one-to-one or conference? Will any be video? Do you need to run group conferencing screen-sharing programs like "GoToMeeting"?
My firm started to work toward "paperless" office back when having Blackberries was cutting edge. Along the way, a lot changed. Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw changed how (and where) research is done; courts started taking, and then requiring, electronic filing; more work started being done via teleconference; even senior partners in stodgy old firms got computers on their desks. It became apparent to our firm that not everyone needed all the same resources - conference rooms, offices for visitors, etc. The litigators got the most out of the office - the consulting group not so much. So I was fortunate to be one of the early adopters of the remote work style. All the offices in each state designated some "shared" offices that were in all aspects the same as the private offices. When you needed to be in a real office for whatever reason, you used a shared office. Sign in to the computer (or bring your laptop) and there's your personal screen, conference rooms available, legal assistants around, etc. Otherwise, your office is wherever you, your mobile and your laptop are. It did take a little getting used to, but before long it was just a way of life and I spent over 10 years as a digital nomad. Having said all that, however, that life isn't for everybody and I wouldn't want to get thrown into "work from home" with no preparation or support.

Conveniently, they are to ignore all 6 and do the opposite because who gives a fuck. This may differ with married retirees

I'm usually wearing what is generally referred to as "athleisure" - an upgrade from traditional "sweats" but suitable for gym or grocery. I've got several lightweight hoodies to wear over tee shirts for layering. Here, you have to trade out clothing several times a day as a cool morning turns to a warm afternoon and maybe turns to a cool windy evening.
But speaking of working at home with teleconferencing, WalMart reports increased sales in top clothing items, but not in bottom items. Lot of people half dressing out there. Why they'd shop Wal-Mart for their "on screen" best look, though, it beyond me.

Lindsey went over the high side four years ago when he realized and admitted "my party has gone batshit crazy." And he's been right there with them in that endeavor ever since.....willing to debase himself shamelessly and jump down any rabbit hole that comes along. He's a nut.

After seeing more whining on TV, Lady O proclaimed that "anybody that is bored around here is just a boring person." True, but we realize we're not sitting in a snowed-in apartment with 2 ankle-snappers, a smelly dog, and Al Bundy on the couch. In addition to the usual electronic entertainment choices, we have places to go for good walks, places to sit in the sun with books or audio books. We go on road trips some days either out into the country or places into the city where we normally wouldn't drive because of traffic. It hasn't been hard to stay away from people.
But it occurred to me that in many places the stay-at-home orders have probably prompted some things said you don't ordinarily hear:
"Get back into your room and play video games.
"Why don't you get on your cell - call or text your friends, play online games, use TikTok..."
"Don't you dare play basketball in the park."
"I want to take the dog out" ... "no, me" ... "it's my turn!"

Re: Social Distancing 1A
Better than some articles I have read on this, but I still call bullshit on "experts" saying don't ever wash any foods with soap and the journalists who go on to say that the fda says this.
The fda does say that rinsing works and I'm sure they say not to eat soap, but until I understand how the soap can be rinsed off of a spoon but not an apple, I'll keep washing the wax and various fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and the shiny wax coating off of my apple and my spoon.
This whole "don't do cause you're too stupid" approach has never been on display like it has recently. I wish I had saved the article with this sanctimonious doc saying that people shouldn't wear masks because even 30% of nurses don't know how to wear them right. I'm sure he feels that all Doctors do everything right, especially him.
Luck will play a part and those who take extreme measures can get this thing too, but those who use extreme measures will fare better than those who don't.
Now somebody tell me what was wrong with wiping down a box of wheat thins with soapy 1% bleach water?
Oh my god, what if I damaged the box?
Actually, I would have done better to have opened the box, poured the crackers in a jar and thrown the package away. That's for next time, but I'm still washing everything that's easier - apple's too.
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

Re: Social Distancing 1A
I see no problem with washing and am inclined to do so myself. Even just dish soap does mechanical virus removal if not disinfecting like bleach water does. The one caution is to wash gently enough that any virus isn't tossed into the air before it's washed off.
Some produce ripens/spoils faster after washing. Not sure what the answer is to this, perhaps keeping it well bagged and only washing just prior to consumption/cooking.
Then, it looks like just not touching items for 3 days will be sufficient even without washing. I'm not sure how much to extend this time for things that went straight into the frig/freezer, perhaps a lot.
