I hope the ads start hitting harder. informing even 2 or 3% of his base would be a good goal.

Agreed, Williamson is too flaky.Ulysses wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 12:57 amAny of the front runners for the presidential nomination would also make fine VP's, much better than the current occupant of the Naval Observatory. However since Biden has already telegraphed that he'll be choosing a woman as his running mate, that narrows the field a bit.
I'd rule out Marianne Williamson, though. Just a bit to pretentious and flakey, IMHO. I doubt Michelle Obama would consent to run, although she'd also be a vote getter. I think it more likely it will be Harris or Klobuchar. Possibly Warren. I'd vote for any of them, even Williamson.
Fortunately Biden's state preference for a female running mate rules out Bloomberg and Sanders. As well as Steyer. Buttigieg would be a good choice but for his biological gender.
The goal is to defeat Trump. Nothing else matters.
Agreed, I think Michelle would decline. VP is a demotion from FLOTUS, unless she counts on Biden dying in office.
Even if Warren wasn't too left for Biden and the general, not to mention being smarter than him, I don't think there's any way that a 77 year-old nominee picks a 70 year-old running mate.
As for the other options, I'm good with whoever helps him most in the general, with Americans' perception of whether they can "be a good President/Leader/Commander in chief" being an important part of that, as GoCubsGo says.

Re: 2020 Elections
Ad choices are complicated, having differing, sometimes contradictory, goals:
Motivating one's own team to actually show up;
Getting historic nonvoters to show up;
Swaying undecideds;
Getting the other team to switch sides;
Getting the other team to stay home.
My own campaigning days were more focused on nuts and bolts elements - volunteer recruitment and mgmt, events, neighborhood analysis, campaign finance and violations, fundraising, candidate needs, etc. I never really became adept at strategic choices like ad creation.

Looks like there's a good chance Susan Collins is going to find out the cost of associating herself with Trump.

Wiki:
There are 3 Dems running, but RCP only looks at one matchup:
Maine Senate - Collins vs. (Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives) Gideon
2/10 - 3/3
Gideon +2.5
However, according to Wiki there are also one Green Independent Party and three Independents running. Ut-oh. Wiki still:
The Cook Political Report Tossup March 20, 2020
Inside Elections Tossup April 3, 2020
Sabato's Crystal Ball Tossup April 2, 2020

Virginia Governor Replaces Day Honoring Confederate Generals With State Holiday on Election Day
... Governor Ralph Northam signed legislation on Sunday to expand access to the ballot across his state. The Democrat abolished the need for voter ID and expanded early voting.
Voters will now be able to vote up to 45 days before the election without stating a reason and election day will be a state holiday.
“Voting is a fundamental right, and these new laws strengthen our democracy by making it easier to cast a ballot, not harder,” Northam said in a statement.
“No matter who you are or where you live in Virginia, your voice deserves to be heard. I’m proud to sign these bills into law.”
The state holiday for election day will replace Lee-Jackson Day. This holiday, initiated in 1904, celebrated Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.
Both men owned slaves and fought against the Union in the Civil War of 1861-65. The holiday often fell during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend – timing many felt was inappropriate....
“It commemorates a lost cause. It’s time to move on.”

Given her historical strength, and 6+ months to election, a horrible approval rating and her face still stuck up Trump's ass, a "tossup" at this point is fine.

Biden putting together post-election transition team, talks Cabinet makeup
Seems kinda early and arrogant, but might be a calculated move to instill the idea that his election is inevitable.

I love that headline too. The "hate-em-both" crowd broke mostly for Trump in 2016. If Hillary had been as likeable as Biden (a pretty low bar), and had those numbers she'd be President now.Vrede too wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 5:53 pmI love this headline:

How can anybody watch governors like Newsom, Cuomo, Inslee, Hogan (a Repug, even) on TV, see what they're doing and how they're going about it, and not be daily reminded what a total incompetent fuckup impeached pretend president* Trump is? When Republicans are out of the public view, or if they're just regular Republican citizens at home, do you suppose they look at themselves in the mirror and think "we're so fucked?"

Re: 2020 Elections
Democratic Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones who made headlines first for endorsing President Donald Trump's reelection, then for resigning after getting attacked by members of his own party for the endorsement announced Thursday that he will finish his term in office after all.
It only took Jones a member of the Georgia House of Representatives a day to change his mind.
"I will not allow the Democrats to bully me into submission," he said in a Twitter message. "I will not let them win. I will NOT resign."
"That was emotional, and that was motivational," he continued. "And you know what, America? I thought about it, and I talked to my family, and I talked to my supporters. Because of what you did for me, I'm going to remain on the battlefield. I'm going to complete my term. I'm going to continue to put my country before my party. And I'm going to do everything I can to get Donald J. Trump reelected. Because he's the man for this job, he's the man for this office."

History, Anthropology and Sociology careers will be built solely on researching the mass psychosis that afflicted US Repugs during the early 21st Century. Ironically, the cure turned out to be CV-19.O Really wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 8:02 pmHow can anybody watch governors like Newsom, Cuomo, Inslee, Hogan (a Repug, even) on TV, see what they're doing and how they're going about it, and not be daily reminded what a total incompetent fuckup impeached pretend president* Trump is? There are 1,972 state senators and 5,411 state representatives, a total of 7383 pols.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 6:24 pmAre we supposed to be shocked that there's a wingnut who is a Democrat? Is this what you think is clever? Take a look at the bumper crop of wingunts in state houses and the US Congress that are perptetual victims and GOP card carriers. God wants you to die.
Of these, 874 state senators and 2,581 state representatives are Dem, a total of 3455 pols.
https://ballotpedia.org/Partisan_compos ... gislatures
Of these, 1 FAT CAN is oh so pleased with himself that he found 1 token Dem Trumpette, .029% of the Dems. Wow, what a dumb thing to brag about.
Further, Vernon Jones:
Is a long time "conservative Democrat";
Voted for George W. Bush in 2004;
Is a homophobe;
Is an ammosexual;
Vetoed pay raises for police officers as DeKalb County CEO
Has lost races for U.S. Senate, U.S. House and Sheriff. Apparently a state house seat is all he can now win;
"Two grand juries found Jones $250,000 per year taxpayer funded security detail excessive";
Presided over "widespread 'incompetence, patronage, fraud and cronyism'";
Was found by a jury to have "created and maintained a hostile work environment".
