White Guys Under the Tent

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Well, it's not exactly like they have many choices in people who aren't white males. West got beat. They've got four with hispanic names. There are about 20 women, but you don't really think they're going to let any of them be a Chair, do you?

They did have Bachmann as a Presidential candidate. They probably figure that counts more than giving anybody actual power in the party.

What's old Widow's Peak doing in the center of the picture? Shouldn't he be
somewhere over on the far right?

Typo, you meant: Tim Scott from Charleston is the black GOP member in Congress.

We will await the dems posting their leadership team now.
Pelosi will be minority leader, 'nuff said.
Sorry, I posted as I desired. Now for the dem leadership group? I don't know, but I didn't bring the subject to the board. The wicked witch from the west is one.

Also: Remember SOPA author Lamar Smith, who tried to pass off SOPA as being good for the internet? The man-made global warming denier?

The GOP just selected him to chair the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

I guess Ryan might not be the craziest tool in this particular shed, but who wants to
spend the time to weigh the likely small differences between the nineteen? Not me baby.

The Speaker seems to be trying...

"With House Republican leadership under fire for installing 19 white men as committee chairmen, Speaker John A. Boehner said on Friday that he had named Representative Candice S. Miller of Michigan to head the Committee on House Administration in the 113th Congress."

I've been a student of politics for a long time, and I think the last time the strategy was this poor was Goldwater's ill-fated effort back in '64. There have been blow-outs that are worse, such as McGovern and Dukakis, but there were more significant contributors to those flushings than strategy. Well, maybe McGovern overestimated the young anti-war demo, but that was still a long time ago. Nobody that started with the apparent advantage that the Republicans had this time has ever blown it so badly. Keep it up, guys...we luvya!

Maybe they thought they really didn't need a strategy, what with the presidency being Mitt's birthright and Pat Robertson having gotten the odds straight from God.

Maybe Mitt should have asked Hillary about running against Obama when your victory is guaranteed.

It occurred to me that maybe the GOP could ask Mitt for a couple of binders full of women? He's probably not going to use them anymore.
