I wasn't at the launch site, but from where I was you could see it go up. We had the TV on and watched it live at the same time. But when it blew up, it was clear live view that something was badly wrong. The smoke curved and the little shiny dot went away and you could see the debris fall. Nothing but gasps all around.

It especially sucks when the private business owner has turned out to be an asshole. I just can't get excited about Musk's successes anymore, though I'm happy for NASA.
