Re: Animals
Wow, too cool! What a start of the month at Manly Beach (Sydney Australia)!
These enormous 17 meter Southern Right Whales didn’t swim their usual route. The mum and her calf came ridiculously close to the shore (100m) up to where the surfers were. As the calf curiously went towards the surfers the mother wacks them of their boards, probably to protect her calf. Maybe a bit too close surfers?
Nonetheless a ridiculous encounter on this beautiful winter day Down Under!![]()

This is my last time toting y'all across the river.
They are crazy good swimmers. Our neighborhood bears swim back and forth across Santa Rosa Sound. It's about 1.5 miles

2 pythons weighing 100 pounds collapse ceiling in Australia
An Australian returned home and was surprised to discover that his kitchen ceiling had collapsed under the weight of two large pythons apparently fighting over a mate.
David Tait entered his home in Laceys Creek in Queensland state on Monday and found a large chunk of his ceiling lying on his kitchen table.
“I knew we hadn’t had rain, so I looked around to find what had caused it,” Tait told Nine Network television on Tuesday.
He soon found two culprits — non-venomous carpet pythons 2.8 meters (9 foot, 2 inches) and 2.5 meters (8 foot, 2 inches) long — that had slithered into a a bedroom and living room. The snakes have an estimated combined weight of 45 kilograms (100 pounds).
Snake catcher Steven Brown was called to remove the two snakes.
“I would assume that it was two males fighting over a female that was nearby in the roof,” Brown said. He suspected the female could still be in the ceiling or nearby.
The males were returned to the wild, but the suspected third snake hasn’t been found.

The South Florida Water Management District pays eligible hunters $8.10 an hour to look for pythons on its vast landholdings, which encompass much of the Everglades, although not Everglades National Park. Hunters get a $50 bonus for every python measuring at least 4 feet, with $25 for each foot beyond.

That would be a cool job, in the winter. Or, I'd do it in the Everglades for free. Too bad there's no bounty on the jerks that released them.

Lmao you can actually see the disbelief on the bears face like “I know this mf did not just...”
Bear scans man for weapons. No weapons detected. Attack mode: activated.
I have never seen a bear look so disappointed at a human being.
Q: Who else was rooting for the bear?
A: Everybody.
Everybody gangsta till bear start makin' motorcycle noises
He's lucky that's an adolescent bear.
A full grown adult bear would have picked up the camera and filmed his corpse for the gram.

Re: Animals
That's fucking hilarious.Parrots at zoo separated after swearing profusely at visitors
A British wildlife sanctuary has been forced to separate five parrots who wouldn't stop swearing at visitors. Keepers say the birds encouraged each other to keep cursing, and had to be moved from the main outdoor aviary.
Billy, Eric, Tyson, Jade and Elsie were removed from view this week, The Associated Press reports. They recently joined the Lincolnshire Wildlife Centre's colony of 200 African gray parrots in August, were put in quarantine together and quickly overwhelmed the staff with their naughty language.
"We are quite used to parrots swearing, but we've never had five at the same time," the center's chief executive, Steve Nichols, told AP. "Most parrots clam up outside, but for some reason these five relish it."
According to Nichols, none of the zoo's visitors complained about the parrots, and most found them amusing.
"When a parrot tells you to 'f*** off' it amuses people very highly," he said. "It's brought a big smile to a really hard year."
Still, keepers thought it would be best to keep them away from children so not to ruffle any feathers. They were separated and moved to various different areas of the wildlife center so they are unable to provoke each other.
Nichols told BBC News that the parrots "swear to trigger reaction or a response," so seeing people shocked or laughing only encourages the birds to curse more.
"With the five, one would swear and another would laugh and that would carry on," he said.
"I'm hoping they learn different words within colonies," Nichols added. "But if they teach the others bad language and I end up with 250 swearing birds, I don't know what we'll do."
The swearing parrots are not the wildlife center's only famous birds. Last month, a parrot at the zoo named Chico went viral for singing Beyoncé's "If I Were A Boy."

Bullwinkle and Yogi are buddies.

They never find the other 0.44 portion of the body.... Fatal bear attacks are rare. On average, 2.56 bear attack deaths occur on the continent of North America each year ...

I hope I never have to find out, but I never thought those big cats would splay their front legs out like that before charging a target; always thought they typically hunker down low and then launch at top speed. This was probably a goddamn trump cat that's been fucking up since birth.

According to people who know what they're talking about, that wasn't a real "charge," but an effort to look frightening and chase off whatever is there. (and wildly successful, apparently). If the cat had wanted to take the guy down, he'd have been down in way less than the "6 minutes" he took to back away.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 5:41 pmI hope I never have to find out, but I never thought those big cats would splay their front legs out like that before charging a target; always thought they typically hunker down low and then launch at top speed. There's a big cat rescue place close to Sequoia Park that we went to last fall. They had a run for the cheetas and cougars where they let the cats run down a piece of meat. Cougars can run about 50 mph, and cheetas about 70mpg. Like lightening from a dead start. That guy wasn't really "charged."
But it was still a scary experience, I'm sure.

Yeah, that's sort of what I thought; the cat was making menacing threats.....like you say, if it wanted to take this guy down, it would have done so faster than trump could tell a lie. And I bet that guy was wishing like hell he'd had a steak to throw at the cat. Or maybe he was wishing for someone to come barreling up that road in a Jeep or any number of other things. Hell, if I'd been there with a metal garbage can lid and a bull whip I may have been able to put the fear of cat god on it. But I'm glad to have not been there. Person, Man, Cat, Trashcan lid, Bullwhip. It is what it is.O Really wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 6:05 pmAccording to people who know what they're talking about, that wasn't a real "charge," but an effort to look frightening and chase off whatever is there.
